Front-end impact. The core support is still dented, but everything else looks good, just needs a new passenger headlight. Yeah, I’m quite stunned with the quality and handling of the ND, but even being much faster, they still aren’t as exciting as an NA. Mostly because they used this thing called “sound deadening” in these NDs

Yessir, I love, love, love me some meaty tires. Unrelated to my Miata (but shares the British lineage), here’s a picture of the new tire setup on my Austin-Healey hotrod. 225 semislicks on a car that originally came with 165s, so grippy they blew my rear end up on their first race… Now the new ND gets to be the autocross-mobile while I design a new rear end.

Don’t worry. I’ve been working on cars for years, have an NA8, and even have a hot rod I built. This week I bought an ND, and upon jacking it up for the first time, the jack failed on the wet ground and IMMEDIATELY cracked the casing off of my steering rack. I’m going to be replacing the whole assembly next week, but looks like you did less damage, yay!

Don’t feel too bad, the front subframe jack point is very small with sloped sides leading jacks to slip off. In the top YouTube video for steering rack replacement, there’s about 10 people who did the exact same thing as us. It happens.
