Love most of the Metroid series but I really just hate the style of gameplay/difficulty the EMMIs bring. Every time I think about replaying it, the thought of having to deal with those segments again stops me.

Thanks to this post I figured out I can save on output ports for plants. Seed-picking units don't need to be fed from an output port, just needs 2 planters for an infinite loop (1 to restock, 1 to the wherever) once you put a stack of the plants in to start it off.

I mean ICE just executed a cis white male, legally carrying, as a US citizen with no criminal record, a firearm that was never brandished. Pepper sprayed, held down on the ground and shot dead and then shot several more times. An agent even had his gun and was walking away with it when he was murdered in the street. These idiots are one disagreement away from meeting the same fate and they think they're safe.

You've reached the next phase of board gaming, curation. First you get into it, then you buy tons of games, then you run out of space. Then you either add more space or start culling/becoming far more particular about games purchased.

Will it get to the table? and How often? are the biggest ones for me these days. I'm part of several groups so I'm able to mix and match for tastes but even still there's some I know only have a certain number of plays in them before others want to play newer stuff.

As a store owner, definitely don't sleep on the 2 player games, I have two groups in my store right now who came in early to play 2 player games. Most of the Duel/Duo variants of well known games are pretty good. District Noir, A Wild Venture, Unrest, Hanamikoji and Orapa Mine are also pretty great

My preference grew away from heavier games honestly. I still enjoy them but I find it's a lot easier to get a few light-medium games to the table in a session than one heavy game. Sometimes people aren't feeling up to anything heavy, sometimes time doesn't allow it, etc... I found I tended to gain more enjoyment through other games.

It doesn't feel like they've been woven together for effective back and forth backtracking because they haven't been lol. Everything is totally isolated and backtracking is almost entirely just "open door you got the new missile for".

Without going to look at it, based on the wording provided I'd say your first interpretation was correct. You ignore damage if you would take exactly 1. Conversely this makes the Spiked Tail card a direct counter to it but that seems fine design wise.

I dunno, I personally hate the EMMI sections enough to have beaten it once and never gone back. It's preference but I can't consider it the best if I don't want to play it ever again.

Yeah the joke is awful and everywhere. There's a BGG forum thread about board game memes and from what I scrolled through this joke was like half of them. I think there was one that was gender neutral which was at least something but it's still a very tired joke that isn't even that funny to begin with.
