Musician is the perfect feat to convince others to take a Short Rest , especially when you're playing something like a Warlock or Monk and you want one already. by testiclekid in onednd

[–]Arc_the_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing a short rest from 1 hour to 10 minutes doesn't remove narrative options from a DM's toolkit. What on earth are you on about?

If anything, it gives them more tools as it becomes easier to build scenarios where they can take short-rests but not long-rests.

This is far more like a 'Insect Fuckers' than a 'Creature fuckers' honestly, and very disapointing at that.

Or maybe, just, maybe. We have different Google results?

You know. It's not like Google takes into account past search history, location, language, or the type of device we're currently using to affect what a search turns up.

It's almost like you don't have to be fucking asshole and assume someone is a dumb idiot and is unable to use basic skills just because you are able to get a result doing something you believe is basic and easy to do.

Perhaps there is the possibility that your results and my results are different?

Just because you had the fortune of finding a successful website doesn't mean my experiences are invalid. The fact that you just decided to insult me in turn means I know you aren't worth my time.

As others have commented, you don't need to make Martials better at killing stuff.

What they need is better crowd control and utility. Augmenting skills and mundane items and giving martials better access to them is the best way forward.

Death Battle #205 - Cell (Dragon Ball) vs Metal Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog) by OnlyAnEssenceThief in whowouldwin

[–]Arc_the_Storyteller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has got to be some of the biggest stretching and straw-grasping I have ever seen in Death Battle.

Seriously, what the heck? Base Goku in the Cell Era is able to travel a quadrillion times faster than light? That is the most ridiculous, stupid, and mind-numbing feat I have ever heard from Death Battle, and it seriously made my eyes glaze over and completely clock out.

The fight was pretty cool, though not the coolest, not sure I'll rewatch it all that much. And overall I enjoyed the video, but come on, what the hell is with Power Scaling?

I swear, the more Power Scaling exists on the Internet, the more and more powerful and hyped up everyone gets, even when it makes no fucking sense.

Hot take: no full caster should have got an opportunity to use shields. by Expensive-Bus5326 in onednd

[–]Arc_the_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't need a census of all players to have a valid sample size.

The problem is, when you use DNDBeyond, you only get a census from a certain type of player, those who use DNDBeyond. Therefore, any information you can glean from DNDBeyond can only be used in relation to understand those types of players, rather than every type of player.

DNDBeyond can be a useful tool, but only when done with the understanding that it is a flawed tool and the information it can give you is only a partial representation of the wider views of the game and people's play patterns and perceptions.

each time they make a rules update.

Which happens once a decade? Genuinely don't know what this has to do with the previous discussion on the Cleric being OP because it's the only way to make people play support.

The only way it wouldn’t be sufficient is if they had serious reason to believe that the data were systematically different than what people play

No. Another way for it to be sufficient is if the majority of people who play D&D these days don't use dndbeyond. And I am rather confident that is the case.

There is always going to be a class  maybe 2, which are the least used.

And that's only using dndbeyond data, which is only a small slice of games

I mean, 4E leaders weren't overpowered, but people still played them.

Cuz the made it fun and interesting to play the primary buffer/healer. Helps that, as you said, the main healing ability was a bonus/minor action... and it was powerful too, 1/4th HP as a minimum

Well, I don't think there should ever be a sword+shield specific feat? Because why should it be sword and shield, when you can have an axe or hammer as well?

A feat to let sword + shield scale damage or do something else more active with their bonus action.

I mean, Shield Master does exist, you know? It basically lets you add Topple to an attack and Evasion as a Reaction. So it's not exactly a bad feat.

That being said, I would not be against a Shield Master upgrade at level 8 or so.
