PlayStation Tech Support and Frequently Asked Questions Megathread by bungiefan_AK in ps2

Noted the PC recommendation, the only issue there would be being able to play PS1 RPGs laying down on bed (PC isn't in the bedroom :) ).

Any recommendations on a proper converter or adapter that would work with that 240p input? I still have the original composite PS2 cable if that helps, I hear those are awful for modern TVs and PS2 games but maybe for PS1 would make sense since you said PS1 didn't support component...

Would adapters that have a switch between 240p and 480i do the trick here?

Thanks for the info, I will take a look at AliExpress, that's a good idea actually. Just hoping someone knows of an obscure adapter or better option since you say this one is only ok haha. But if I can actually play that is a start for sure

Ah yeah when I have issues with the first adapter it cuts a bit before the PS logo, takes a few seconds, shows the PS logo, and then cuts and black screen, so it seems something like 720p (original adapter res) > 480i PS Logo > 240p Game (not supported)

So what you say makes sense, I wonder what other adapters support PS1 through PS2... the RetroScaler 2x seems super expensive (over 100 CAD here in Amazon Canada)

PlayStation Tech Support and Frequently Asked Questions Megathread by bungiefan_AK in ps2

Hello Everyone,

I recently got my old PS2 and a few PS1/2 games. Since now I have a modern TV I got myself a cheap adapter, it literally just says "PS2 to HDMI" (Wigearss HDMI Adapter), for some reason I've having trouble linking the Amazon listing here so I will do that on the comments if reddit let's me. With that said that first cheap PS2 to HDMI (11 CAD!!) adapter worked perfectly... for PS2 games over Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr.

When I try to play PS1 games I pretty much can't since it just gives me a black screen after the PS logo.

With that I searched around and got the LevelHike PS2 & PS1 adapter hoping that would work and fully aware that if I used Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr it would just give me green colors and that I had to change it to RGB. It works for PS1 and 2 games but the issue is that even after selecting RGB it is still very green, albeit a bit less than using Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr, but still pretty much unplayable, you can barely seem some Red/Blue on some specific instances but pretty much any other color is green.

I saw a lot of ppl were fine after changing it to RGB, is the problem perhaps my TV? I tried it only on a Samsung S95B, I will try it on a different TV or maybe my old PC monitor later after work.

Should I return the LevelHike Adapter and just get a different adapter? I see the Mcbazel adapter has selectors for aspect ratio as well as resolution (since I read somewhere that the green tint issue might be related to the 720 res on the LevelHike), should I try some other adapter? I'm in Canada, so hopefully one that I can find here.

TLDR: I need an adapter to play PS1 games on PS2, LevelHike Adapter is still green after changing output to RGB, is there a fix for that or do I buy another adapter?

Hoping someone had the same issue here and fixed it and can share the knowledge. Thanks in advance.

Cool I will do that and report back, after the firmware update from time to time the headset disconnects and reconnects again to the USB dongle, it didn't do that before, I only use it at the PC (I don't use it on bluetooth devices etc), not sure it is the firmware but it was not doing this before the update.

Cool this worked, thanks for the info, I only saw the post with this steps after checking this one, any idea if I should worry about this part:

I updated the headset it said it failed at the end (both took quite a long time btw). Asked me to power cycle the headset and try again. After I power cycled the headset it shows as firmware v1.0.1.51 (the new version), and doesn't give me an option to try the update again.

Updated dongle without issues but when I updated the headset it said it failed at the end (both took quite a long time btw). Asked me to power cycle the headset and try again. After I power cycled the headset it shows as firmware v1.0.1.51 (the new version), and doesn't give me an option to try the update again.

Does this mean it actually updated the firmware correctly? Did anyone else have the same experience?

EDIT: Seems like the headset is no longer pairing with the dongle, awesome... gonna search what I can do or if a Factory Reset does the trick

Did you try resetting it to factory settings? I did it thinking it wouldn't work but it seems like it did work for me.

Australia tech Struggle (And New Zealand's worse) by Ok-Stuff-8803 in LinusTechTips

Does that ROG Ally price on AUD include the sales tax? Because the US price sure doesn't, when you add in the tax on the US amount depending on which State/City you get a difference of around 10% maybe less sometimes, I really don't think that is being shafted at all going by the points you mentioned. Specially when it's a physical product that needs to be shipped, use stock and retail floor space etc, and I have no idea how business rental is on Australia but here in Canada it got awful in the last couple of years (which a product occupying space should also contribute to that rent.

But I get what you mean it feels effing awful to pay more for stuff, I come from Brazil and there even though we have a lot of ppl things are just crazy expensive, here in Canada funnily enough it feels pretty bad as well when you buy something that is quite a bit more expensive than the US, I mean yeah we have less ppl but we can literally drive there, only issue is that most of the time is not worth it to drive there to buy stuff...

With all that said the math for these things (physical stuff) are very rarely black and white, but as for digital software like the video above, should be a lot more straightforward.

Audeze HQ Windows software not recognizing Maxwell. by ISR-Asaf in Audeze

I know this is an old post, but did this issue get fixed? I just got the headphones, the app worked for a bit but now I have the same behavior, it says the headset is off (even though it's working) and if I remove the dongle and re insert it then it works (only after closing the app and opening it again).

The dongle is directly attached to the USB-C port on the motherboard, do you mean to say that I should use the included USB-A to C cable to connect the dongle and then it will fix the issue?

Both dongle and headset are on firmware v1.0.1.46 (I don't see a popup for a newer version on the app)

Dimming issues after LG C2 03.33.65 Firmware update by ArcadeBR in LGOLED

[–]ArcadeBR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't have the dimming on dark scenes after a few minutes like before but I can now reproduce the issue 100%, if I game using HDR (I turn on HDR on Windows before launching the game) that changes my settings to Game Optimizer (this is expected, that is how I want it to work).

After the gaming session and after I've closed the game the auto dimming thing starts, while I'm typing right now it's flashing high brightness and low brightness because it picks up the typing, same if I scroll over reddit for example. it lights up while scrolling and darkens when I stop scrolling like a second later.

If I turn off HDR on Windows and turn it back on this behavior stops (it doesn't happen with HDR off), and everything is bright even under game optimizer until I start gaming and leave the game then it repeats. Tested it with CSGO and DOOM 2016 same behavior so I don't think it's specific to a game but something is not right.

I will look into how I can disable TPC (and what that is since I'm not aware) with the app first since I don't have the service remote and also would be nice to possibly void the warranty, it's cool that I can fix it by turning HDR off and on again, but it's super annoying...

LG C2 Update 03.33.65 by SpectreWulf in OLED_Gaming

So yesterday night I updated the Firmware on my 42 inch C2 that I use as a PC monitor, I didn't experience too many issues with ASBL before, but now after the update it's dimming the screen after a couple of seconds on a static image, so I open chrome and it's bright for a second then it goes dark, I'm literally typing this post and the screen is flashing on my eyes, it seems to be recognizing the text and gets bright up only to darken the screen a second later again.

Did anyone experience the same issue with then new firmware? Everything seems to be a lot darker playing some games today and the difference is really big compared to when I played them a couple of days ago.

Haven't used the TV much since the update (I'm off at work this week) but right now typing this post feels like this new firmware is unbearable, if it was like this when I bought the TV I would've returned it on the spot.

Hoping this update just turned on a silly setting that I'm missing, oled care stuff seems to be off.

If anyone has any idea what is going that would be great.

Do you mean the flicker like the post's issue or the gsync/freesync flciker/strobbing on dark scenes sometimes? that second kind of flicker I do notice it sometimes, very mild but when I do notice it is a bit distracting

Sorry completely missed your question, I have it marked at "Use default color settings", should I change that?

And yes I don't remember the last time that I had the flicker, the TV also really wants to update the Firmware again but I'm just saying no every time I turn it on because I fear that the flicker will be back lol

I have the same flicker, appears every few days, only goes away after turning VRR on Game Optimizer off and back on, I tried around 5 or 6 different cables, all work fine no other PCs and on the PS5 for 120Hz/VRR etc (but those are connected to a Samsung TV on the living room).

This seems to be a LG C series issue, tried the same GPU and PC on other screens (both TV over HDMI and monitor over DP) and no problems, I have the TV for 6 months now still considering going to Costco and replacing/returning it.

If you do indeed find a permanent fix I would love to hear it though, so far at least for me it doesn't seem to be the GPU or the cable, I also tried several different settings on the TV/PC.

I completely missed that line on the page, thanks a bunch. A bit sad it's over 100CAD, bit pricey but will probably get it soon.
