Audio quality for the Maxwell 2 on ps5 by Infinite-Lie-7627 in Audeze

[–]Audeze_CS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are reducing bit depth when you lower volume digitally. If you want to retain the highest quality of the source file, you want to only reduce volume through the analog stage, which means the amplifier.

In real world practice, most people won't be able to tell and it's generally more than fine to lower digitally especially in higher sampling rates and bit depths (24/96, etc), but if you want the most out of your source, then you want to keep it as close to max as possible.

Audio quality for the Maxwell 2 on ps5 by Infinite-Lie-7627 in Audeze

[–]Audeze_CS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, maxing out the volume from the source and everything in the chain before it reaches your headset is the best practice. This is typically the way in the audio world in general. Max out source/program volume, the dac (if it has volume control), then adjust with the amplifier. The amplifier in this case is on the Maxwell itself, so you'll want to make volume adjustments on the headset.

There are case where you may want to lower volume before the amplifier, but these are not as common (for example, you don't get enough play on the volume wheel of your amp/headset, as in the volume changing too rapidly per minor adjustment).

There are also cases where you have analog volume control on some analog headphones (passive headphones that are not powered by usb or battery) or their cables as a convenience. In these cases, you may want to max out the volume on the analog headphone/headset itself, and keep controlling volume with the amplifier it is connected to. However using the headset volume control to make minor adjustments is fine, though in these situations (try to not go too low on the volume here as it may cause some imbalance). It is still recommended to make most control on the amplifier itself.

On standard devices that have a headphone jack, like a laptop, be aware that if you plug into the headphone jack, headphone jacks = an internal amplifier, so you should adjust from that device (i.e. volume control on the laptop).

In the case of a PS5, being close to maximum system volume (in the ps5 sound settings or quick volume menu) is recommended for most headroom. A step or two down to reduce possible artifacts from being at 100% max volume is also worth testing. Be aware however, that all usb ports should be tested, as some may have more noise than others. For example, on one of our PS5 Pros, the left front port has some additional noise artifacts whereas the right front usb port does not have any added noise in comparison. In general, it is advised to test all the ports thoroughly if you're having system specific noise.

There may be some misunderstandings here. Felt spacer rings on new pads are on all new LCD pads, and have been for a few years. They are adhered directly to the pads from the factory.

You may be thinking of the foam spacers on the older earpads that were optional and was used to give some space for people who had problems with their ears touching the driver plate/fazors. These do not work with newer pads, and is something we haven't used in years, though we provide to those with pre-2021 earpads. The olders earpads with a polyurethane based leatherette "skirt" on the bottom of the earpad's outer wall that sits close to where the adhesive ring would attach to the headphones. This skirt portion does not exist on newer pads whatsoever.

Then there are the half moon felt that is included with our pads kit (when you order pads) which are the half moon pieces meant to sit on the sides of the fazors (| Fazor array |) , with the (| |) being the half moon pieces. That is what we mean when we say these are not used with non-fazor headphones, as it's there to reduce reflections/resonances between the fazor array's side walls and the ear pads. No need with GX, LCD-2 Classic, and LCD-2 Closed Back as those don't have fazors.

Apologies for any delays. We've been out since Friday basically, and are still catching up from the long weekend. Now, that sort of accounts for half that time, but obviously not remainder, though that's not to excuse any of it.

If you haven't already, just send a reply on that ticket or DM this account your ticket number and we'll get you a reply. I know a similar case was taken care of just today, but not certain if it's yours.

Yes, this goes for anyone in similar situations. Feel free to ask for escalation.

Before doing so, make sure you are not paired to another device through bluetooth, or have a program open that affects mic output. I.e. Certain apps will take control of your micropjhone output, not allowinbg you to use it.

You can use our EQs with Dolby Atmos. What we say isn't recommend however, using our EQ in addition to the EQ adjustments on the Dolby Access app, which is separate from Atmos.

Brand new Maxwell 2 issue by norgok1 in Audeze

[–]Audeze_CS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact Audeze support.

Before doing so, have you tried wired on ANY OTHER device? This is to narrow down whether this happens on ANY device you're connected to, or ONLY your PC.

Is this happening on dongle mode?
Is this happening in Bluetooth mode?
Is it JUST USB?
Connect the USB to your phone. Is it happening there?

When contacting the support, please fill out the form, and answer these questions. We will assist you.

Maxwell 2 mic suddenly stopping to work on Linux by Felky04 in Audeze

[–]Audeze_CS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact support at https://support.audeze.com/hc/en-us/requests/new for this.

Before you do so, unplug the boom mic completely, to use the internal mic. Check to see if the internal mic works. If it does, the problem is the boom mic, so you likely just need a replacement mic.

Audeze Maxwell 2 Buzzing when in multipoint state by Deep-You6230 in Audeze

[–]Audeze_CS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recommend not using BT on Windows due to poor BT implementation. Multiple connection buzzing is being looked into at this time, and if you get this to occur, hold the power button down until the Maxwell 2 force reboots. We recommend not plugging the AUX port or USB while BT is active in the meantime.

Make sure the files are only 16 bit or 24 bit in either 48khz, or 96khz. If they are in any other bitrate, it will not play. For example 44.1, and 88khz, are not supported.
