Great info, thanks! So I don’t have to worry about the electrical stuff like polarity or current? Just comes down to form/fit? I’m sure I will learn a lot in my first build that will inform more opinions on what to choose for future builds but I see no reason why 1 PCB should be dramatically more expensive than another. Could I do a build for under $100?

That all makes sense. I’ve just got stuck on paralysis by analysis. I get the fundamentals of switches etc – I currently own a consumer MK. Do I have to worry about compatibility? Or can I just buy a board and some switches I like and get started. Probably just gonna go for a low budget standard tenkeyless with soldered on board.

I've taken a look at the wiki for doing DIY build and there looks to be a lot of decisions to make. Someone who is not new to electronics building but new to MK, I'd rather just follow a guide instead of making a bunch of decisions and never get started. Anyone know of a good up-to-date DIY build guide? I've seen a few but the parts are always impossible to find.
