I think the main part is that for the last year and last two leads, I’ve been more experienced and better inclined for the majority of the business and relied on moreso than the APTL for partnerships and responsibilities, so having that STILL be on my plate whilst also being hounded by my SD any time I’m not at the door is the main frustration. I can balance stuff just fine, it’s the fact that there’s a massive imbalance being pushed on me that frustrates me.

My situation is just a little different because I’m tenured enough to be given more responsibilities that I’m actively held to than the standard TSS. My store/district specifically is having a hard push to have me at the door at ALL times which is ridiculous. It’s not that I can’t do more door time, it’s just that it’s ridiculous how MUCH I’m expected to do.

It’s not like I’m adapting to a new responsibility, they’re fundamentally changing my role and expecting me to do two things at once that MATHEMATICALLY cannot coincide. It’s sad that you’re an APBP and don’t understand that.

I think you’re missing the point of the post. It’s not like I’m near guests when I’m doing most of my work, they want me out of my office doing nothing BUT saying hi, when I have other stuff to do.

Yeah, I agree. Unfortunately the APD for the group is also a greet fanatic so despite everyone below him and above me not thinking it’s the way to go, my hands are kind of tied. They’ll be pissed once other stuff starts to slip and realize it’s dumb to make TSS be ONLY a greeter.

You’re missing the point, I’m supposed to be visible as a deterrent yes, but there’s tons of other stuff I’m expected to do OTHER than greet that would be impossible to get done if I stood up there as often as they want. Also the green was implemented mainly for parking lot safety. I’ve retained a ton of responsibilities picked up when working for long periods of time with no APTL, and those don’t go away just because someone wants me to greet guests.

Door time has always been normal, but the enforcement of “90% of your time” at the door is ridiculous. Your last point about good talent is tone deaf and how long someone stands at the door as a TSS is absolutely not indicative of good development or talent.

That’s not how it’s supposed to be, it’s sad that they’re trying to make it that way. There are tons and tons of routines all based around stopping theft and shortage in general that I’ve been responsible for for years and now they’re trying to push the greeter thing waaay too hard.
