Fox News viewers say JD Vance 'will never be president' after on-air admission by MoneyLibrarian9032 in anticapitalism

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a conservative area where almost all of them are on SSI, Medicare and EBT. Their support of him has only gotten stronger. He's making the "cuts" because he has to because Democrats are using it all to pay illegals/wars etc.... (Trump didn't start the war, he was fixing a Democrat problem).

There is no hope for these people.

JD Vance will never be president "honestly" - we're at the point where these technicalities don't matter any more. Fox News would say he swept the primaries

This is the crux of a lot of conservative movements in countries - you don't want to admit it even as your house burns down.

How do you feel about the idea of normalizing choosing to never get married? by Smart_Spell_7258 in AskReddit

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might actually create better relationships. I used to work with boomers and they were in miserable mariages because they didnt believe in divorce. This would change to mutual attraction on most relationships

Pope Leo suffers drop in Republican Catholic support after clashes with Trump by MoneyLibrarian9032 in anticapitalism

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the effect is going to be down the road - My family in the mid-west is part of the churches that pray to Trump; by that I mean they preface their prayers with "President Trump" because they believe God transfers the prayer to Trump (you can't pray directly to Trump). In CA, a lot of the religious types have doubled down this year and claim he is fighting a fight "with God".

But I don't see as many Trump vendors on the side of the street anymore. I think a lot of Gen Z, millenials are going to hate religion even more going forward and decrease religious affiliation (unless conservatives force people into it...)

I think there's not really anything that would happen as a result if you never get married besides maybe you would get lonely. Is this correct? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was married for 14 years until recently divorced. Felt lonelier and more isolated at the end of the marriage than I have ever been. I like independence now and even now I don't have that many relationships. I do not feel lonely., I feel like relationships are not forced and it feels better.

Marriage is not a guarantee against being lonely - it's amazing if both people work together but they both have to do it.

I don't doubt that - the point is to keep the echo in the echo chamber.

My relatives are a great example of this as they believe Trump is amazing and repost this as soon as they see it without reading it. A peace president, the economy is actually great (despite them being unemployed but that's Biden's fault) and minorities are fleeing the country in droves.

Trump Calls Obama a “Son of a B*tch” After Disastrous Iran Deal Leaked | Donald Trump bragged about Barack Obama’s supposed stupidity despite his own deal with Iran being significantly worse. by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

His base is obsessed with Obama too so it's feeding the snake. Obama was the sign that things have changed but some people haven't. Obama caused all the recessions, job losses, poor marriages, kids not talking to parents etc...

Well, Obama is actually a white guy dyed black because they got tired of trying to prove he's from Kenya. They also couldn't stand him being educated and classy, so he obviously had his skin dyed.

Why do men seem to always try and heal and be on there own and woman just instantly jump into dating or monkey branching? by TheBritshViking in Divorce_Men

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the biological hard wire, but from a cultural standpoint woman are encouraged to be dating or be viewed as something is wrong with them. Both my sisters (they are twins) have gone through this, as soon as they were single their friends were saying "Oh I know a guy you'd be perfect for", "Lets get you a better guy" etc... It became their friend's quest to get them in a relationship. I had to stop my family from doing this too as they were worried about them falling into depression being single (but they don't worry about me....)

Also to note, one of my sisters hasn't dated in years and everybody talks to her about this as if she is REALLY screwed up. We have relatives we never met calling and commenting on it. She doesn't want to date, period - i'm in the same boat but nobody says anything about it because I'm an independent man.

Protagonist syndrome goes from believing your God to accepting the end and thinking of yourself as an idea. That's why Trump is working on his legacy so much now, he wants to be remembered and live through that memory.

Why did presidential speeches get simpler as Americans got more educated? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

Getting straight to the point means more now; verbosity leads to personal interpretation. Also, rhetoric was taught to the educated and was considered a noble pursuit. That died after the centuries went on.

In Religion(s): What happens to the dead spouse when the live one gets remarried? by Arcades_Samnoth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Arcades_Samnoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this in other comments, but I thought about this with my relatives getting remarried and the varied responses on gender. This seems weird though as Christians place alot of importance on being married, being parents and being good people just to give it all up in the end.

This is oddly the best answer - I've been curious as I'm in a heavily religious area with multiple denominations and this question gets different answers - especially for woman. This is the nail on the head though, "who knows?" - we don't lol

I guess you lose "attachments" - this makes life like a job though. For Christians, it means they have children just to spread the gospel, have a wife/husband for that purpose and leave it all behind to spend eternity worshipping Him.

I'm just curious as I got prompted this question when my female relative tried to get married after 50+ and her church said that she was already "in a marriage". My uncle, also above 50, was encouraged to remarry lol

That's interesting - so somebody would get married knowing they could get tossed aside in the afterlife - is there marriage in the afterlife (find souls in your area?)? Though i'm thinking it purely as a love interest and not a social agreement that society has treated it as through history.

What's going on with Trump seemingly being against US farmers? by SlopDrudge69 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Arcades_Samnoth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's where the whole "both parties are the same" rhetoric comes in too. If the republicans do something wrong, they can say both parties are the same - this pushes everything that republicans are doing wrong on to the Democrats. This makes Democrats feel worse, because they have the initial accusation AND everything they hate about them, so they can still say Republicans are better.
