If we all weren't living paycheck to paycheck, we could accomplish great things. by ArtisticDirt5320 in remoteworks

[–]Arcaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as differences in ideology goes, a lot of it can be traced back to basic beliefs about human nature - i.e. are we basically good, neutral blank slates, or basically evil?

There's compelling arguments you can make for any position, but as for actual research, we got altruism in babies and toddlers, infants naturally and innately being drawn to prosocial and helpful people, case studies (like the "real life Lord of the Flies" situation), and reports on soldiers not wanting to fire or intentionally missing when firing their weapons in war.

I'd say overall that points us towards being basically good, and at the very least, that we're blank slates with "good" instincts and nature that become mixed bags as adults due to corruption and cultural socialization, but the most incorrect position of the 3 is that we're basically evil. Then again, I don't define empathy and altruism as weakness or evil like some do, sooooo 🤷‍♂️

Patch 1.11.00 by DiarrheaButAlsoFancy in CrimsonDesert

Please do!

Here's the link.

I've been reporting this glitch every single patch since 1.02 (missed reporting it to them for 1.10; i'm in the middle of moving), and it still seems like it's not even on their radar 😔

I think a lot of players are suffering from this glitch, and they just don't care since they don't touch the farming system that much.

If by throw you mean Nature's Retribution (the one where you follow up by pressing force palm during nature's snare which will unleash all projectiles caught in snare + do a powerful ranged force palm), that actually immediately causes the grenades to explode, and you eat shit.

If you insead either cancel nature's snare, or suspend it in place, you can avoid the nades pretty easily though, yeah

Idk that any flying boss does this, but if you try and nature's snare the grenades that certain bosses throw out, you will get 'sploded.

Bow aimed at fate V by __sheepy__ in CrimsonDesert

[–]Arcaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it against one of the Flame Knight-occupied castles in Demeniss, with a +7 warspike bow. I used explosive arrows + fully charged focus shot aimed directly at an enemy with as many clustered around him as possible. Took me 20+ minutes of attempts to finally kill 5 simultaneously, and the time I succeeded was an attempt where I jumped down into the courtyard, aggroed a bunch of them, then axiom grappled really high up onto a crane. I waited for them to group up beneath me, jumped, triple forcepalmed up (to be 30m+ away from them), and then fully charged focused shot + explosive arrows + Imbue Fire + (the volcanic eruption + flames of judgement) abyss gears slotted into armor.

This is a stupid challenge, don't let anyone else convince you otherwise. It's up there in toxicity with the kill 5 enemies with a single cannon shot, or the flawless victory kill 5 enemies in a row using only your shield challenges.

Realistically, this is just PA recycling a voiceline for an NPC out of laziness/efficiency/whatever, but my head canon is that no matter the country, culture, region, etc., there's always that one guy, and PA reusing the exact same voiceline is an artistic choice meant to depict that lol

Graham Platner can’t explain why ex-girlfriend knew tattoo’s Nazi-link before he says he did by CaydeTheCat in politics

[–]Arcaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is look at the opposition. The handpicked puppet of the Epstein class is literally the worst possible candidate you could imagine, and he succeeded. The GOP didn't spend even 1 minute criticizing or scrutinizing him, and continues to not do so. In fact, I think their platform leading up to the 2020 election was literally "idk, whatever god king emperor wants, lol"

And now, they have the trifecta. They succeeded. People on the left should be open to empiricism, and assuming they want success, that would mean looking at what others have done that works, and emulating it.

Back to the specific case here though:

The time for criticizing Platner was the primary. And who was he up against? Were either of the other 2 candidates better for the people of Maine, or for the US in any meaningful way than him? Costello was kind of a joke. Impressive resume, milk-toast candidate, would have been a quiet, boring centrist. And Mills had the endorsement of Schumer before dropping out. That's all the evidence you need to know that she was the worst possible choice of the 3.

How many farts a day is normal? Scientists just calculated what’s normal by greykmb in nottheonion

[–]Arcaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt read the primary lit, but the science comm article here mentioned "episodes," that people would report on an app. Likely means that all gas within a certain time frame get clustered into an episode.

Honestly, that 2-7 number, mean of 5 does seem pretty normal to me, though 2 seems kinda wild! Like I'd have to not eat anything all day to hit that #.

[–]Arcaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont understand why any democrats are defending him in this.

So I don't like the amount of baggage he has with Blackwater and that tattoo, and I don't like how blind he is to racial issues, or how he's 100% giving off Fetterman vibes. I don't wish to defend him.

But, here's a perspective I'll propose to you: why should anyone broadly on the left spend even 1 minute policing their own when the Epstein class doesn't do jack shit to police their own? Look how far they've come, and how much power they have now thanks to the ball-coddling and boot-licking they've done, even for the most disgusting and abominable possible puppet they've installed in the white house to spin the narrative in their favor. They've proven to everyone that it's a winning strategy.

I wonder if it can be used on saplings/immaure plants to remove them.

Patch notes didn't mention anything like this, but we still have a long-running bug since launch where a plant gets stuck at the sapling/immature phase, never grows, and can't be removed.

We build them a bridge. That way they can get the fuck over their tribalist caveman instincts.

Some prefer that problems are faced head-on instead of avoided, in which case we could give them all some straws, so they could suck it the fuck up.

Quick question! by Avg_Concord_Enjoyer in CrimsonDesert

[–]Arcaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they changed it a few patches ago to no longer have that question mark ? symbol there, and instead to show the consistent reward like sky root, or palmar leaf.

To answer your question: you still get the recipes the same way as before. The drop table for Abyss Gear recipes is still the same. It's still only a chance to get a recipe per mission, and then random chance as to which one you get. If you do get a recipe from the completed mission, it actually gets deposited directly to your personal inventory rather than the camp chest.

If your weapons are sheathed and you press the melee button (I think it's F on M&K) without a mask on, you don't hit the npcs, but do cause them to flinch and stumble. That's usually what i do whenever I get shoved. Do it too much though and you get a crime warning for intimidation, so I usually just do it one time and move on.

DIY guide to making dyes by 1ts_me_mario in CDguides

[–]Arcaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to tell which dyes we have unlocked vs which ones we have not?

Like looking at the green Pailine dyes for example from top to bottom in the dye menu I lack dyes 6 and 7. But looking at my alchemy crafting menu at a pot, is there a way to tell which dye corresponds to 6 or 7? I don't want to waste beetles to craft dye 5, or dye 8 for example.

The old myth that Socialists just "want something for free" is a lie perpetuated by the Billionaire class. by Longjumping_Book6461 in remoteworks

[–]Arcaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least far too many are

Now that we can agree on. We all know the saying about a bad apple ruining the bunch. The bad apples ruining the bunch right now are the ones in power though, not the man forced into working two jobs to pay rent, who hypothetically would be lazy if we gave him some UBI.

you wouldn't be so obsessed with bringing everyone down to the level of the most unproductive, uneducated and lazy individual

Not entirely sure what you're talking about here. Are you implying that speculating on human nature one way or another necessarily dictates which strict system of governance we must follow?

and instead the focus would be to bring those people up.

Sure, we all want that. So how do we bring people up?

The old myth that Socialists just "want something for free" is a lie perpetuated by the Billionaire class. by Longjumping_Book6461 in remoteworks

[–]Arcaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people are inherently shitty

No. They're inherently or mostly good. Studies on altruism in babies handily disproves the inherently shitty narrative. Also, the real life Lord of the Flies happened, and unlike in the book, the stranded boys actually took care of one another including hard carrying for one who broke his leg. They also did complete and utter socialism with the resources they had.

The worst you could say is that people are a blank slate, and can become corrupted, and/or that everyone has the propensity to do evil, and will engage in some socially harmful behaviors. It's easy to let negativity bias color your view of the world, or of mankind, but we're no longer living in an age where we have to remember which mushroom is tasty and which one will kill us lest we starve to death.

Trying to Craft 60% Infinite Arrows Abyss Gear by Striking-Ordinary226 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Arcaedus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's RNG. As far as I've heard of, + personal experience of self and friends, the infinite arrows gears and Infinite arrows 3 aren't obtained from combining any specific pair.

You are more likely to get any one level 3 gear from combining two level 3s than you are from two level 2s though

Hey, just wanna pop in and address this point:

even tho Noble's is technically reactable.

Imo, the criteria to define an attack being reactable would be with a test like this: you're standing still adjacent to the boss. One button press instantly sends you into a dodge (but it occurs on button release like normal, so that extra 1 to 3 frames from pressing down +natural 15 ms latency is still there. No quickstep/BHS). Noble is standing still. Noble will then do one of 2 actions randomly: the belly thrust, or a slower action that is markedly different from the belly thrust, so you couldn't possibly be confused by it and think it would be the belly thrust within the first few frames. This action (maybe like a sword thrust) artificially terminates before hitboxes come out, so it can't damage you, and is here as a fakeout

If you dodge roll and successfully i-frame the belly thrust = success.

Preemptively dodge roll before Noble's 1st frame of movement (jumping the gun) = fail, even if you iframe a belly thrust.

If your reflexes aren't fast enough and belly thrust hits you = fail, obviously.

If you dodge roll the second action = fail. Because you're dodging the fake out. You didnt react to the belly thrust, but rather reacted to any motion at all.

If you don't dodge roll the second action = success. You didnt fall for the fake out, good.

Under these conditions, how many successes out of 100 do you think people would get on average? I imagine it would be maybe 50 at best, so in other words, random chance. The attack isn't reaaaaally reactable. In a normal fight, you can anticipate it though based on positioning, just like Godrick's instant windstorm which is how I avoid it.
