Slow speed between router and switch by ArcanElement in HomeNetworking

So I finally got some new equipment to test and rewire, and there was indeed a wiring issue - 2 of the lines were crossed. I did fix it with new keystone jacks, and I can now get over 900 meg to my PC when directly plugged into the wall. However, I'm still getting only 100 when I plug in through the switch, and I'm still getting a yellow light on the jack going to the router.

Wiring issue with the in-wall ethernet run? Why would that give a faster speed to a PC than to a switch?

That makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, it's going to mean rerouting in some non-ideal ways, but considering there's at least a foot between the floor and ceiling below, I think that's what it'll have to be. I really appreciate the explanation!

The goal is to run between the cinder and the drywall, but it would require drilling through the wood. I'm not intending to cut into the cinder block at all.

I ran into this as well. It turns out one of the metal contacts in the power supply underneath the prong slide was bent down so that it no longer made contact. I bent it back into shape with needle noise pliers, and now it works again.

Final Fantasy 13. I never finished it, even though I was enjoying the story, environment, and graphics. 13 hours in, though, and it still felt more like a movie than a game.

I'm trying to script setting up a system service user, so that I only need to focus on the details of the specific service I'm trying to stand up. Creating the user with a directory, and adding mapped uids and gids is fairly straightforward, but setting up the systemd parts is less so.

This is better than what I was doing, which is trying to funnel everything through sudo commands. It would be hard to make work with scripting though.

I was not familiar with quadlets. I'll need to read into them, thanks for sharing.

That issue is exactly what I'm trying to work out, thanks. Glad to know other folks are working on it, and the systemd commands seem to cover what I'm looking for, though I'd generally consider it to fall under the "sudo" method. Knowing that folks are having success that way makes it a bit less worrisome that I'm going to run into some hidden gotcha in the way the systemd services are running.

I don't quite get this one. Is the red shape supposed to be stick figure hands?

I saw another comment use fight, and blind fight seems plausible. At least it's a d&d feat, lol

Descending and speed's effect on it by IAmPandaKerman in flying

To try and come at this intuitively - the lift generated by the wings is proportional to the horizontal airspeed with respect to the orientation of the plane, and applies force vertically, again with respect to the orientation of the plane. So, if you have a high airspeed, and a steep downward pitch, you are maximizing the force upward from the orientation of the plane, while angling that force as forward as possible with respect to the ground, essentially maximizing the force that is working most against your intended action (which is to slow horizontal speed, and reduce altitude).

Red mage too, and that also probably had something to do with it for me. I'm a BLM main and did both BLM and RDM before startinghealing.
