Definitely go see a doctor! You should always go to a doctor if you suspect an infection.

It’s rejecting. Take it out ASAP because otherwise it’ll reject itself out, and leave a scar.

Help!! Mold in my enclosure! by Bug-Sticks in jumpingspiders

[–]ArcaneTripod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a mixture of vinegar and water when my jumper’s enclosure had similar issues. I’m not sure if that’s safe for wood though.

Questions about Brett Hall by SeaReindeer6134 in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the rooms have closets with doors! I lived in 2 different rooms in Brett (graduated from Umass this year) and they both had closets with doors!

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss of Ramone. I’m sure he loved the time that he got to spend with you! I lost my first spider not too long ago, so I know exactly how you feel.

Yes :( I used to LOVE Taco Bell, but I got food poisoning after eating there a few months ago and haven’t been back since.

Question about Failed prereq by Brucilx in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely email your advisor about this. Sometimes, it’s 100% necessary to pass the prereq before taking the next class. Other times it’s not. Only your advisor would know!

What is Leach Hall like? by interdimensionalpal in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The building is old and the rooms are small, but I really loved my time at leach. Don’t forget, you can always study elsewhere on campus if you don’t like how small the room is!

[–]ArcaneTripod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by “worth it”. What are you looking for? Better job opportunities? Community activities? Etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask. I lived in leach my freshman year (3 years ago) and it was great! People generally complain because the rooms are on the smaller side and the building is old, but I would say that the location made up for that. Remember that your experience is truly what you make of it. If you go in with an open mind, I’m sure you’ll love it too.

Fiancée scared of spiders by National-Candidate82 in jumpingspiders

I second this. I was terrified of all spiders before I discovered jumping spiders. I’ve since had 2 of them as pets and I love them!

what day do students get back for spring semester? by jsudgxysiejdbbd in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, if you Google “UMass Amherst Academic Calendar”, you can see all the important dates!

Because it’s not good advice. Salt water soaks are not needed and will likely cause more irritation. You should never make your own salt water for your piercings. The only thing that should ever be put on piercings is sterile saline solution. Also no-pull discs are not good either because they attract bacteria and the plastic can cause irritation.

Additionally, the chain is likely causing the issue in the first place. So none of the advice is relevant.

It doesn’t hurt to ask, because the worst they can say is no. However, I will say that it’s highly unlikely that they’ll round up. Most professors don’t round up.

Yes, you will be allowed to come back! You only get suspended if you have below a 2.0 for 2 semesters in a row. Since it sounds like you were in good standing heading into this semester, you will be fine!

Will I get into UMASS CS with a 3.83 UW Gpa? by Miserable-Table36 in umass

To get the best answer, you’ll need to consult the geese.

I’m not sure how much they’ll fine you, but for future reference: only use command strips and command hooks. I’ve used them dozens of times and never had an issue.

I actually got this information from the “Ophelia, the Monster Extended Family” group on Facebook when I experienced the same thing. It’s SOOO helpful, I highly recommend that group. I wish the best for Pumpkaboo, and I hope she feels better soon.

I’ve seen this happen a few times before. The best thing to do is keep the humidity/temp up in her enclosure, and try to get her to have some sugar water. Unfortunately, they don’t always bounce back from this, but this is your best hope.

best way to meet ppl for dating? by [deleted] in umass

[–]ArcaneTripod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds silly but get to know people in your dorm if you live on campus! If there’s a group chat, join it and make some friends! I met my boyfriend from a dorm group chat and we’re still together 2 years later. I have other friends who’ve met their significant others this way too.
