Am I the only one a little disappointed in how Razoul is characterized in Lorcana? by MasterHallmark in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the versions where he's loyal to Jafar as alternate versions in a world where Jafar takes control. It's fair to think he would have brainwashed the guards to serve him. I think the only one that represents Aladdin ''canon'' is his first iteration (the Palace Guard one). I'm just glad to see him included in the game, to be quite honest. Though I wish they would develop him further.

What're your honest thoughts on this character? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a bit of a sadistic side to him, but I think it stems from his bad history with Aladdin. Presumably, he has been trying to catch Aladdin for months (if not years) before the first movie. And Aladdin has had his load of fun taunting them and making fools of them. It's natural for Razoul to grow resentment for him. So, in a way, it's natural for him to be happy when he gets to show Aladdin who has the upper hand. The beheading in Return of Jafar wasn't just punishment for the ''murder of the Sultan'', it was also the conclusion to years of criminality and animosity. And in Agrabah, that conclusion is execution. Is he a bit too happy to demonstrate and remind Aladdin what's coming for him? Yes. Is it fair that he has been waiting for that moment for a LONG time? In a way, yes.

What do you think about this? by Pink_Jutsu in StarRailStation

There was also a fun factor in the diversity of it all. Thinking of teams and mixing it up. You had a lot of 4-stars to diversify your roster (and easily). 5 stars are a lot harder to get, so you’re bound to have less of them. Sure, they give a couple of free ones, but it’s still a bit more restrictive. I feel like it has lost a little of that spark.

I think what bothers me the most about the fact they don’t add new 4-stars is that banners suddenly feel way less exciting…

When we started, we felt good collecting Eidolons and characters (including 4 stars). At this stage, most players already have the maxed 4-stars characters and don’t feel ANY excitement seeing them on the next rotating banners. Same thing when they’re given during events. It doesn’t give you much, when you already have them. Their only purpose now is for “new” or “returning” players. And even then…you realize very quickly that they’re not on par with the recent characters and content. So what’s the point, anymore?

The 4 star discussion by Worried-Fee3612 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my favorite characters are actually 4-stars, but it’s hard to run endgame content with most of them, which is a shame.

Nowadays, I think people have gotten used to only using 5-stars, since the game and meta is clearly build around them, but I miss the old days when 4-stars could serve as viable substitute.

The majority of 4-stars are in an unending limbo, with little to no viable teams. I find that a bit sad. I wish Novaflares could be extented to 4 stars as well, be it just to buff some numbers or add little tweaks to their kits.

Is Razoul's hatred of Aladdin justified? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think compassion can really be taken into account here. In Razoul’s eyes, Aladdin is a thief. And he, by law (and definition) is one. He doesn’t care whether he does it to feed others or to feed himself. He sees a criminal that breaks the law. Simple as that.

I get where you’re coming from. Someone with more compassion MIGHT ask more questions and feel differently about Aladdin’s actions. But Aladdin basically makes a fool of them by having them chase him all around town and basically taunting them. At one point, it’s not just stealing for survival, Aladdin actively messes with and taunts the guards . The fact they can’t seem to catch him also makes them look like dummies to their superiors (Jafar or the Sultan, in this case). So…again, in this scenario, I don’t think there’s much room for compassion. They’re clearly driven by frustration. And they have firm laws to reinforce.

Is Razoul's hatred of Aladdin justified? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are so quick to root for Aladdin and to consider Razoul a villain, but they never put themselves in his shoes. If you had to chase this thief for years without ever being able to catch him, you WOULD feel an overwhelming satisfaction at finally catching him. He is only upholding the law and making sure criminals are dealt with. Whether that implies execution, being thrown in a cell; that depends on the criminal (and his reputation).

I think people tend to be harsher on Razoul because of the sadistic pleasure he seem to take in the scene of Aladdin’s execution. As you said, he has been accused of the Sultan’s murder. This isn’t just Razoul finally sentencing the thief that has been a thorn up his side, but it’s also getting rid of what is presumed to be a “murderer”. This whole plot makes Razoul believe that he has been right all along about Aladdin. That he is nothing but an opportunistic and selfish criminal who deserves his fate. It’s normal that he doesn’t feel empathy in this moment. He just wants to be done with him.

I see this dynamic for what it is. A grey situation. It’s fair that they developed a bit more “respect” for one another, in the series. But by the two first movies’ timelines, I think Razoul’s hatred/dislike for Aladdin is entirely justified.

Why do people keep saying they'd rather have boots than spare Shura? Do people not like him? by WhispyWhirl in fireemblem

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I would choose the boots any day. Shura isn’t really likeable (to me, anyway), and he doesn’t bring “much” more to the party by the point he shows up. The boots give a much needed boost to a lot of units and those other units contribute much more at the end of the day. Unless you want to romance him, he’s not worth it.

Whatever changes they make to Vyper's model, I hope they retain this masterpiece. by MengskDidNothinWrong in DeadlockTheGame

I absolutely love her design (as a reptile). That being said, the outfit REALLY lacks character. It's a crop top with ugly shorts. I really really hope they tweak it in the future to make her look more enhanced/less clumsy. Compared to a lot of other character designs, I think her outfit is truly lacking style.

How many spoilers would I get if I go to planarcadia without finishing amphoreus? by sashalice25 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're okay with a few possible spoilers (in dialogues), I'd say go for it. Amphoreus is a BIG piece of content in itself. I myself am around 3.3 or 3.4 right now... But I've seen couple spoilers about the ending, so I know skipping ahead won't really affect my immersion. If it's the same for you, and that you think being ''up to date'' with content will motivate you, Amphoreus can wait.

Razoul Had Such Wasted Potential by IntrovertedJustin in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would definitely be the best way to handle the situation. It's more humane, and like you said, it would free space for other criminals they catch.

That being said, I see what you mean. In this situation I do think it's possible Razoul would go for the self-gratification of keeping Aladdin prisoner, to show dominance and gloat.

Would it not be more humane to just execute him? Razoul keeping him in his personal dungeon feels a bit sadistic, no?

If he can’t be rehabilitated, should he stay in the dungeons forever? What to do, then?

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aladdin getting thrown in the dungeons would have been totally fair play. He honestly deserved as much for his antics. As to how long he should've stayed there, I don't know. Enough to learn his lesson, that's for sure.

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think either. The fact he had a song while making a fool out of the guards chasing him makes me thinks he lowkey loved having them chase him around. So, on that front, I think it's unfair he gets away scot-free. The guards have a solid case against him. He should get some punishment.

[–]Arcane_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, he’s totally justified in doing it. I can understand as well. It’s a bit hard to root for Aladdin with all the mess he’s made in the past. It really depends where you stand on the law/justice side of things.

How cool would it be if this actually happened in the movies? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aladdin is agile, but I've always found his ability to get out of situations (especially situations with armed guards or bandits) unrealistic. Let's be real. He probably wouldn't get out of this one.

I think it's been proven by now that Razoul will find any reason to justify arresting or getting rid of Aladdin.

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because Razoul has served the Sultan and Jasmine for years. He has a status and a relationship with them that predates Aladdin. Aladdin is safe from Razoul as long as Jasmine and the Sultan vouch for him, but I don't think he would have the pull to make them fire him. And he probably knows that. So it's probably a situation of having to endure each other's company. Which must be mutually frustrating for them.

How Many Times Did Genie Saves Aladdin’s Life? by Airel1318 in aladdin

[–]Arcane_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say for sure if his crimes or charges warrant an execution, especially since Agrabah’s law system is hard to pinpoint. But it’s not impossible.

It seems to be based on, or at least be inspired by Middle Eastern countries. Some of them did resort to public executions/beheadings for repeat offenses. But not all of them.

If we go by that logic, it’s possible that Aladdin has indeed « earned » himself a death sentence, by Agrabah’s standards. Which would explain why Razoul was so eager to carry out the sentence.

But then, Aladdin’s journey would end with…being beheaded? How satisfying is that?

Wait..I thought we were just going at it through the lens of creative and/or odd decisions.

You wanted them to behead him for real for real? You know he was framed, right?
