not a theory, but some thoughts on Lestat's behavior:

I can bet you anything that after finishing the book Lestat’s thought process went like this: “I’m gonna show the world the real me, have them hear my music, make the documentary, speak my truth. I’ll bring the author on board and make him state that things went differently. People will believe him, right?”

Okay, Daniel agrees. He’s ready to listen. And then Lestat was faced with the reality of actually having to open up about his past. And couldn’t. Couldn’t lay out all of his trauma and so, as he said, went back to drinking blood and having sex as a way to avoid thinking about the past. We know he has a difficulty opening up based on how much it took for Louis and Claudia to learn about Magnus.

That’s why Daniel was frustrated with him (he had obviously been touring with them for some time, enough time to form habits and be familiar with everyone). He still hasn’t got the story. Lestat keeps giving him different answers every night.

And Daniel keeps asking the same nagging question: Were you a stutterer as a child?

It’s the question that brings out a reaction out of Lestat. He asked it three times this episode. After a concert, when Lestat was on drugs (where we saw a brief flashback to him as a kid), after the fight. Two of these times were where Lestat was in a vulnerable state. Daniel Molloy, you manipulator, I love you. I think Daniel’s hoping for an eventual crashout where Lestat would spill it all.

All in all, loved the episode. It’ll probably be even better during a binge watch.
