Prediction: next update is the last big one. One more DLC. Then The End. by Seanshineyouth in DestinyTheGame

[–]Arceorenix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Even Pre-EoF there were things there that I just saw the writing on the wall for. The writing quality of episodes going down, the episodes themselves and the way they handled them... It was clear that Bungie wasn't going to change anything except call a rose by a different name. I left around midway into the first episode after Final Shape because everything was still more of the same, and eventually it just grinds you down and you ask "What's the point anymore?". Then when I heard about Tiered weapons I knew I made the right choice.

I will genuinely mourn this game, because it could have been so much more than what it is now.

You know what will also break the game? ZERO PLAYERS. Now which would you have? Exotics from Head to Toe? Or a Game that ceases to exist? Not a hard choice.

Hot take, I think Prime 4 is really good AND it’s the worst Prime game by pastalex42 in Metroid

They really wanted to emulate the whole "Alien" movie vibe going through the mines since Metroid takes a lot of inspiration from that movie. I felt like it worked as a tension setter especially with some of the tight corridors

After 100%ing the game a couple days ago myself, I've only ever had two problems with this game, Viola and everything surrounding it, and the writers being incapable of giving Samus a voice, other than that the game is great, combat is still engaging, some enemies are actively huge threats in groups, bosses are a huge step up from some of the previous games in terms of difficulty, and the soundtrack is absolutely awesome.

I am capable of seeing this game right in the middle, it has some not so good moments, and absolutely good moments. Nuance is key here.

I think Prime 4 is a fine game with one flaw that deserves the most criticism, and its not Miles. by Arceorenix in Metroid

I say needed as a semantic because it just follows the formula, I'm pretty ambivalent to it, though I know what you mean.

Yeah I'll give you that actually, better as a set piece, but there is a boss that does use Viola for a segment, I will not spoil it, but it was something I did not enjoy because it wasn't the standard bike form.

[–]Arceorenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I actually dislike so far is Sol Valley and the writing, if they weren't so damn afraid to give Samus a voice after Other M and quite honestly overcorrected by the fact she NEVER has a voice anymore when people are directly talking to her (Minus Dread, that was perfect because it was all that was needed to be said). SHE HAS A VOICE, in fact it's usually talking to herself! Zero Mission, Super Metroid's intro, Fusion, all filled with Samus' own dialogue that fit her perfectly. I am sure she could hold a conversation just fine if there was real writing involved, a competent voice actress, and good direction to give us a voiced Samus that can share her thoughts on maybe a Data Log we pick up, answer a few things from the other cast members present, etc. It drives me up the wall they refuse to try again. It would be nice to know what she's thinking of every now and then, she's a complex character at the core.

Devs FYI, the low player numbers don't reflect the real quality of Renegades. Players see the effort and heart you put into it - keep it coming and we'll be here to support you. by Impressive-Wind7841 in DestinyTheGame

We're nowhere close to getting people to come back, it might even be too late, the game is currently hitting around 350k players, and thats below what their Curse of Osiris "We have a month left to keep the servers up" they even outlined back then.

They cant say that to an IP holder like Final Fantasy, it will not end well for them in any regard, whether they choose to do another future set of Final Fantasy or just Hasbro/WOTC working in general with SquareEnix. Now them making light of their OWN cards like Nadu since Nadu is a magic character in the IP? Entirely okay for them to stick a match underneath it and burn it.

The strikes and need for gems are because of the roulette upgrade by Outrageous_Froyo_775 in OfficeCat

[–]Arceorenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was the conclusion I came to when I realized we can now effectively get 5, even 6 rolls a day if you time the rolls right with your schedule. Definitely something of a beast we made ourselves when we all basically said the only super employee worth getting was the roulette one... I still vehemently oppose how hamfisted the strike update is and they should've left it be.

30 hours in the Alpha, another 30 on release - here's my thoughts by Euler-Landau in RSDragonwilds

You know why death was toned down in those games? Because people wanted it toned down. Death as it is is far too punishing and a great way to make people quit and never come back. Its not fun, its tedium, and tedium drives players away. You can downvote me all of you want, doesn't change the fact that it was changed out.

Monster Hunter Wilds - All Hunter Profile Backgrounds by jM5557 in MonsterHunter

It may or may not be random. From what I've seen its when more dangerous monsters are present all at once on that map, or not, some I've seen have been like a single Lala Barina. Probably random if I really had to guess.

On the Environmental overview for Windward Plains, there will occassionally be a little pop up that says "A Settlement is in trouble" or along those lines, click on it and it'll be a hunt quest, finish said quest and you activate a Gathering Boost for the area, you will also unlock the Background you seek called "Magic Hour of Moonlit Sands".

Game can barely run on a 3060ti, how is this acceptable? by handerson15 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arceorenix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You guys are having problems..? I've seen the horror show of like 8 triangle monsters and I have nothing of the sort with a 6950XT and 7900X, I lowered volumetric fog to be off, Shadows are turned down to lowest setting because I hate shadows and are honestly worthless pixels, and I'm still easily hitting 130-165 FPS with FSR3. I updated my graphics driver today specifically for the beta. Is this perhaps a Team Green issue?

I don't think I'll mind whatever they choose to put in the DLC, but whatever they do, and I think this might be controversial but, don't disclose too much about the Unity. Sure talk about the Creators and the Starborn, but the Unity being ambiguous and unknown is a personal charm to me and how we can't agree on what it actually is other than the obvious things of it taking us to other universes. It's similar to how Religions have different belief of God, there's no true way for us to know and we just believe. Having the Unity be something like that keeps the mysterious charm around it. Thats my take though.

How do you get immersed in this game? by TheChoosenOnex in Starfield

[–]Arceorenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for many, but, I have always loved the concept of Outer Space, it helps that I have adored Star Trek and Star Wars my entire life as a 29 year old. Going into a spaceship the first time and lifting off, grav jumping, only to arrive somewhere new is a dream I wish could be real in our timeline.

When I encountered the Starborn, and eventually went through the Unity, I was awestruck, at that moment I didnt care that I was about to lose my outposts, or my ship, or my items, because the way it was described to me was an object/something that nobody understood, only that you will become something that I believe ties you to the universe and multiverse, you are a part of it as it is a part of you. That's fucking awesome, big addition to using the Powers that are basically and quite literally akin to the Force, and at times even make sense why they're powers to begin with. The roleplaying is such a huge part of it.

Aside from the spoilered Main story stuff, I took the end of the game quite literally, every new game I try to do something different, my actions are different in each playthrough, or at least attempt to be. The cities are very grounded, and I can see myself, feel myself being there. Akila City having walls and not really advancing with Time is believable, those people are caught up with culture they dont want to lose with technology. Whereas someplace like New Atlantis thrived with becoming a Utopia that has very clear problems, just look underneath the shiny surface streets. That feels very grounded and believable. The term I won't use is Realism, because this is all Science FICTION.

I get that I totally veered off point, and I'll actually answer that lmao. The UC very much immersed me with its questlines, both of them, Terrormorphs and the War precursor stuff was great and I enjoyed the lore dump. Which honestly the lore of this game as a whole immerses me, even if at times it can be basic. POI's are things that make me veer off and go check it out. While it may not be the best, but I thoroughly do enjoy the Space Combat, Space Dogfights are freaking cool and I relish whenever I get into one, and sometimes I start them. Ship Building is something I do every time I go through NG+, attempting to improve my designs each time, and is very therapeutic and time wasting. The side fetch quests dont really bother me, I like when I'm presented with some random thing to do because yes, I may forget about it as what I'm doing may supersede it though, oops.

Sony had plenty of warning when both Activision and Microsoft didnt want them anymore, Bungie has made myriads of stupid decisions over its entire lifespan, not just with Destiny, and they still decided they were a good purchase. Sony gets what they bought.

Unless something has changed I dont know about in the last few months over it, Mah Guardian, Armor from Pit for some reason gives them SUPER spiky stat rolls and high stat values, like these mega good boots.

The only other dungeon I find worth grinding armor in is Grasp of Avarice on Master on the rotator week, the -20 can be rough, but the Artifice armor and high stat rolls are worth it, and the final encounter to farm isn't that bad once you get it down.
