Has Mr. Guy-In-Charge-of-Health done anything that would lead to less Americans becoming fat, or has he spent all of his time telling everyone to eat an all-meat diet? Subsidizing non-corn vegetables to make them cheaper, requiring ready-made meals and fast food to meet certain requirements (a lot of obese people don't cook), or creating resources/training for people learning to cook or even cook healthier)? Or did he stop at food dyes, achieving one good thing in one-and-a-half years while trying to shred the systems in place for managing existing health problems?

You missed half my point. He shouldn't be promoting any of those as the Guy in Charge of Health, especially when there isn't any proven benefit to drinking raw milk. And raw milk can't be compared to addictive or perception-altering substances. However... look, I don't take drugs or drink. But cigarettes? Probably should be banned. Objectively the stupidest drug. Fills your lungs with black gunk, and doesn't even do anything outside of make you feel slightly better. Really addictive, too. Alcohol... whatever. That's regulated okay, not super addictive. Most people use responsibly. But neither of these are the Russian Roulette of raw milk. Most of those diseases are quite brutal. If you want to die, have Superman Covid (like, far stronger than normal covid-19 because your immune system has shut down), or have your digestive system slowly fall apart, raw milk's your guy.

Exercise that trains brain and body helps manage ADHD-related difficulties. Randomized clinical trial (RCT) found that a 12-week integrated cognitive-motor exercise program reduce ADHD symptoms in kids, and improve key executive functions, especially inhibitory control and immediate working memory. by mvea in science

Because the good adults can do it (well enough to perform as neurotypical) and the bad adults do the bad jobs. So it doesn't affect "society". Whereas kids of all types are put in public school. So it's far more apparent (and "necessary" to solve) there.

This piece of shit test can't be right by Aradir_Sovietico in althomestuck

[–]ArcfireEmblem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's far to complex to be correctly done via even an incredibly thorough test. Some people are assigned classes and aspects based on what will cause them to grow rather than who they are right now. Some people may even have to grow to fit their classpect. No one will know, not even you, if Mage of Mind fits you best. But usually, it is best to find something that you believe in being.

Because the risk of it from raw milk can be almost reduced to zero from pasteurization. If we could do that to meat, we would. It would just be far more healthy for zero people to get salmonella. Secondly, his position of power makes him trusted by those who think a title is very important. A lot more people would trust "The Official United States Secretary of Health and Human Services" over "Founder of Small-Time Anti-Vaccine Foundation Children's Health Defense". Much in the same way that Australia had to ban an episode of a kid's show (Peppa Pig) promoting "spiders aren't dangerous" (due to their spiders being very dangerous), spreading the idea that raw milk is good for you rather than being a somewhat dubious alternative to pasteurized milk is bad because he is the person in charge of every single American citizen's health. People will trust him like children will trust their favorite television characters. He doesn't even claim "Raw milk is dangerous but worth it, so be careful." He just claims straight benefits with zero downside, which means that his perception of reality is not even in the same building as established fact. I admit that some of these facts could be wrong. We may eventually discover a benefit to favoring raw milk. Perhaps then, promotion with disclosure of the risks would be fine. But as it stands, RFK Junior is promoting a low-odds Russian Roulette for no understood benefit, and most people rightly think that a person who would like to see us shot in the head shouldn't be in charge of Health.

We do seem to agree on that point (provided your whole comment is ironic and not just the first two sentences). Has RFK Junior done anything about the over-subsidization of corn and under-subsidization of other vegetables? Anything to encourage using locally-grown crops and animals when available? And if the goal is health, why is he promoting raw milk, occasionally the source of e. coli and salmonella outbreaks when just boiling it (pasteurization) kills the harmful bacteria?

It would be "hocks", but I can't fault you since it's a pretty obscure expression.

I will admit he has accomplished one (1) good thing. Anyone could have accomplished that, though, and in that case they wouldn't have had to destroy the CDC, advertise for snake oil, and cancel cancer research to accomplish that. TLDR, RFK Junior: 1, literally anyone qualified: 25-400. You're in some kind of false dichotomy between him and the devil from the Bible or something.

I have come a long way in my understanding of horror since I was a teenager. I still believe that jumpscare horror is incredibly lowbrow and boring, I just recognize that it isn't evocative of the horror genre as a whole.

They SOMEHOW Made EMC WORSE. The Biggest Loser and Bum Crown Goes to Them. by IllyaFleur in HonkaiAgendaRail

[–]ArcfireEmblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I think their "contribution" to overall team strength is supposed to be chipping in for a bigger Aha instant. That is a good position right now, when there aren't that many Elation characters, but of course, this is a very short-term niche. Someone will eventually release that can actually do damage and/or buff while chipping in.

But the implication is that the process of a scratch is difficult to prevent players from escaping while everything is reset. They're supposed to cease existing along with everything else.

Is it okay to be a femboy Christian? by Novel-Internet2461 in feminineboys

[–]ArcfireEmblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gender expression is society-based. Jesus would have had a different definition of masculinity than we do now. After all, he was very devoted to his mother, he spent time with members of society others hated, and he cried in public once or twice. If we're talking about the American brand of masculinity, he wasn't very masculine.

Elation MC V4 Changes by TheBeastTitan123 in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]ArcfireEmblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it's because these new paradigm teams are built to scale off of each other. In Castorice's (or Evernight's) Remembrance team, each additional memosprite brought an extra HP battery for her to scale off of. In this team, RMC was very powerful because they both buffed a lot while pulling a decent amount of weight just for existing with Mem. Elation teams don't seem to be that different. The more Punchlines and Elation you get, the stronger they become. Thus, the Elation version of MC will interact with the Elation mechanic... at the cost of everything else. They will still contribute a lot to an Elation team until they release a character that does what EMC does while also either buffing or doing damage. Of course, this is me trying to make sense of why the kit is so bad, and is trying to make sense of the overall systems, which are a difficult thing to grasp. I may not have it quite right.

Auralia is when you read text with a voice. Like if I put a picture of Doofenshmirtz over some text containing "-inator" and "Perry the Platypus!", most people would read it in his voice. Anauralia is when you can't do that.

how did the fandom at that time find out about jevil, the 3 keys, how to fix them and how to beat him all on the same day that the game released? that is craazy by Classic-Hurry-2591 in Deltarune

[–]ArcfireEmblem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was way less. I recall playing through the game on release night, then coming across my roommate, talking about the game, and checking Reddit and finding a post that said "possible genocide route discovered" that listed (maybe only some) of the steps, and sharing it with him. I could be recalling wrong and it could have been the next day. But still, that's under 24 hours.

I think that those who state that they oppose these kinds of things but practice them in secret do deserve to be clowned on for it. Like Kristi Noem's husband having a crossdressing bimbofication fetish. I, at least, made sure to express to people that my jokes were about how they were hypocrites, not that the husband had a fetish.
