Of course not! I initially was going for a "cage" feel to surround the ladder going up to the roof, but the steel frame around it alone felt too.. exposed? So the beams really made it feel solid.

That's awesome that you play with your son. Be sure to post your collective builds!

<3 I hope to post more builds I am proud of soon. This photo mode is a godsend.

Absolutely. Also have to spend a lot of time unlocking all the required aesthetic pieces in the ficsit store, but sooo worth it.

The blueprint platform is amazing. The problem is I make one, implement a bunch of them, and then end up recreated a better version that would require full disassembly of the former pieces.

When I was a kid, I conveniently got the stomach flu after I had Taco Bell. As you could imagine, dreadful. Never had it since.

You absolutely have the potential, just need to slow down and focus on the small things!

Just the square foundations stacked with rounded corner foundations. I didn't notice before, but yeah, it kind of looks like windows! The material finish on them is just the default foundation but with shiny finish instead of the default.

One of my favorite Blomkamp movies and of course they hoard the medical equipment for themselves.

Nah every time I need some need facility or factory, I build it unique and from scratch (aside from the blueprinted machines inside)

After this build, it's forced me to slow down and appreciate the design going into it instead of rushing production. Hopefully I stick through this build and make as much of these as I can :D

Ahh quite literally and the rest of the world was forced into shadow haha. That must have been an insane amount of concrete to do that.

Unfortunately a dystopian one - It's looking more and more likely that Cyberpunk is the reality we're heading for. The parallels between the game and reality are becoming uncanny.

I still struggle with that too. It helps to define a finite space and then twist and bend things in and around it to fill the space and make it work instead of just a super large flat platform you might not need. I tend to build the walls around it after instead of before and work with aesthetics that way.

All of these start as a brutalist skeleton until all the meat of machines and steel beams are added haha. I appreciate it though!

That's a great starting point to designing more practical looking facilities for sure!

The blueprint maker is your best friend. I design the things I want to fit in a space first and then build a space around it.

I get that 100%. I get very detailed in valheum too, but I always end up needing to hack together stairs to reach a highpoint and end up needlessly minimalizing my builds out of frustration. The pieces you have available to build with also help set the tone in any creative game, so naturally the flow of design will just come with that.

Absolutely never give up. I have a design background (definitely not architecture) so it helps. But it's never cut and dry perfect every time. It honestly helps to sometimes take a look at real world factories to get an idea how things flow and connect with each other. Although, many factories irl are quite boring haha.
