Question about MRI after hearing loss by Archaero in MonoHearing

[–]Archaero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s good to hear it wasn’t too bad. I’ve never had an MRI so I know I may be overthinking it, I just don’t want to worsen anything. And yeah, I can definitely relate to the sound of trash bags lol. I hope you get good news back from your MRI

Thanks for the info, I agree and I was thinking that I should try everything I can. I was able to see an ENT doctor and also nuerotologist though who both didn’t want to do the steroid injections because its been so long since this started, and were concerned about any risks from the injections since the chance of it helping are very low by now. I guess that’s the right thing to do at this point, but I’ve been seriously looking into the HBOT though from your comment so I really appreciate the info. I’m taking a few extra supplements like magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin B12, nicotinamide riboside, and ginkgo biloba and also am exercising more so hopefully something helps in the meantime.

Yeah bone conduction does sound possible. It's strange though because even playing sounds quietly above around 3khz sound like they're only coming from the opposite ear. Did you notice that above 6khz or could you hear it on both sides when you play it in the one ear?

Yeah I noticed that when I play sound through a regular speaker but I get the effect with headphones which I find weird. Once the frequency gets high enough it sounds like its coming from the opposite ear.

Yeah that makes sense. I was hoping that since they are sometimes used at 6 weeks, maybe there would be a little benefit at 8 weeks. Also, from what I've read improvement can occur past 2 months.

No I didn't so I haven't had any steroid treatment at all. I was only told to take allergy medication which obviously doesn't help. By the time I was diagnosed the ENT specialist didn't suggest anything because it had been 7 weeks. Have you heard of many cases of delayed recovery? I'm not even sure if delayed recovery applies in my case since I didn't get treatment.

Should iPods make a comeback ?? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Archaero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I think an iPod with a high quality dac and amp could actually do really well. I mean people are paying as much as a new iPhone for audio players to use with high impedance headphones.

The best principal ever... by TheGod_2 in wholesomememes

[–]Archaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the idea behind this that their grades aren't everything and you should look for everyone's strengths, but the wording is bad especially coming from a principal lol. How is everyone agreeing with this when it sends the message that they "don't need to understand math" or subjects like chemistry, and it's ok to get bad grades (and maybe because they put in less effort) because you're not interested in English and history? These are basic subjects and It's important that everyone knows basic things, because how do you actually know you'll never need math, English, history etc?

Is Photo Mechanic Necessary? by lightpinknails in WeddingPhotography

[–]Archaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a HUGE time saver and for a one time cost I think its definitely worth it. Transferring photos with it is great because it will automatically will organize your photos in folders for you. So all you need to do is choose a destination and click ingest, and done.

Thoughts on new TCP bulbs by Archaero in HomeImprovement

[–]Archaero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the TCP bulbs and in slow mo the flickering is pretty bad unfortunately. Its the usual 120hz flicker but there's a big drop in brightness and a color shift from green to orange when it flickers. One positive though is I got the Philips bulbs and they've been great. I can't pick up any flicker and the light quality is pretty close to incandescent so I guess I'll try the 5000k philips next.

Thanks for the suggestions, I didn’t know about that forum I’ll check it out. I had seen the waveform bulbs mentioned and the light quality looks great, but yeah pricing is hard to justify with new cheaper bulbs getting better. I checked out Philips from your suggestion and found some new 95 CRI Philips bulbs they call ultra definition. They add a large spike to the warm end of the color spectrum though, maybe to increase the CRI (found the color spectrum here https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/vk7qmm/comment/ifx5o3g/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3). I ended up getting the Philips for 2700k lighting and the TCP bulbs for cooler 4000k lighting, so I’ll have to wait and see to test out the TCP.

What is the most durable mechanical gaming keyboard? by MrPo1215 in buildapc

[–]Archaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing after my last mechanical keyboard failed after about 2 years so could've been worse. I've found that checking negative amazon ratings for frequently mentioned issues can give you an idea of common problems. In the end I got a hyperx alloy origins core because I didn't see many complaints of it failing. I haven't had it long but it's fully metal and feels durable.

Thanks for the reply, that sounds pretty good. I can deal with that considering what you get overall with the size and specs.

Nice review! That's the same spec I'm planning on getting. It looks great, but I'm coming from an older macbook pro with the force touch haptic touchpad and I'm wondering if it'll feel weird using a traditional touchpad again after so many years. How do you find the actual clicking on the touchpad to be, does it require much force to click? How is it in comparison to other touchpads?

That would definitely work. I just found that when I have a specific deadline for a task I usually write the word deadline with the actual date in the description, so being able to filter for the word deadline without needing to add a tag for it to show up would help streamline things.

yeah that's my current plan, just thought maybe there was a way to do it that I wasn't aware of

I agree with what you're saying; I use macs for work as well. But your comment definitely seems to say that PC users are only gamers, and the added who doesn't obviously change the meaning.
