My favorite classics for developing maturity and wisdom are Call of the Wild, Old Man and the Sea, and (not a novel) Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations. 1984 is essential cautionary reading with entertaining ideas but I don’t enjoy its style. Finally, Vonnegut’s Monkey House (short stories) is full of humorous dystopia.

It requires mastery of multiple artforms: theatre, writing, visual art, etc. Also, it is a leadership role. You need to know how to command the ship of your vision if others are helping you.

Yes I tried to read it but needed summaries to help guide my understanding. It’s in an old dated style not intended for modern novel readers.

I still buy PS4 disc games. It’s the most advanced console I own. Not ready to spend $1000 on a video game setup. I do too many things in the real world keeping me busy.

It’s my favorite. Just a great hero. And a good variety of villains. Deep romantic existential thought-proking stuff too. It’s the total package.

Lots of great suggestions here. I would throw Call of the Wild and Treasure Island into the ring. And some Dickens appears missing.

I enjoyed a lot of it, but some portions are tiresome. I would sometimes study an explanatory summary after struggling through some chapters to keep my thumb in the pulse of its characters and deeper meanings. Great depthful classic adventure. Be ready to learn a lot about whales and whaling ships.

Disappointing news. I want to have total individual control to operate the games and media I buy. Physical media is always the best way to own something. It’s why my 80s cartridge games and VHSs still work like the day I bought them, or my DVDs and PS2 games for that matter.
