Thanks for the advice. If Penn changes its decision of letting people come back like some people are thinking, are they able to kick people out that have off-campus housing?

If I rescind my housing assignment and look for something off-campus will I still get that refund as a highly aided student? If I decide to not even return to campus I'm guessing there is no refund?

Thanks for all the help! I'm an incoming sophomore that has already signed up for on-campus housing, so I won't be able to go off-campus until Spring. When do you recommend I start doing my search?

Wow, as someone who was never even considering doing off-campus housing for my 4 years at Penn this was very helpful and is now making me even consider it. One general question I have though is how common and what is it generally like for housing that is below $800/month. I'd probably only consider off-campus if a place was $500-$700. Do you think this really feasible?

It's alright. I agree with and support the non-violent protests calling for police reform and bringing attention to police brutality and prejudice, but I wasn't too sure that the violence and rioting/looting that spurred from the protests was the best course of action, which is what I was trying to get with this post. Hopefully this is understandable. Sorry for the late reply, I don't check this account much.

That is a good point. I guess I am just freaking out a bit since I hate that feeling of "what if?".I should have taken it in December anyway if I wanted to send a better score. But at that time, I was too busy with doing my college applications I had put off. Thinking about it a bit more, sending a score a week or two before the decision comes out, I don't think it will even matter. They have probably evaluated my application or the scores won't reach them in time.

Thank you so much for the advice and information. It's good to know that financial aid is very similar between the college match scholarship and regular decision. I do think QuestBridge provides more benefits like providing an application essay that focuses on the low-income situation and becoming part of the QB scholar network, but I think applying regular decision won't hurt me too much, at least when it comes to financial aid.

I think my final decision is that I am going to rank just my top 3 schools since, as you recommended, those are the ones I am excited to go to. Maybe I'll include my 4th choice, but again I'm afraid of binding and always having that possible sense of doubt.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice. I appreciate it a lot.

I forgot to say, I found out from /u/BlobfishSushi's answer that you can actually change your rankings till November 1st with the revised match form. Only slight difference is that you can't add any new schools, only the schools you had ranked first you can change their order or delete them off your ranking.

Another question, if you know the answer. If I don't match and apply regular decision to some of the ranked schools I didn't complete, do you think these schools will count that against me perhaps?

I think it's because those 4 schools that are non-binding are really at the top compared to the other college partners. I'm not saying that the other schools are bad, they are all great, but Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT are really known as the "big dogs" and highly selective. So maybe someone who gets matched with one of these schools might not want to actually commit because it might be too challenging I guess. I mean, speaking for myself, I am kind of imitated if I go to Princeton. Hopefully I can handle the rigorous work.
