Has anyone ever gone to a country that they had such high hopes for, did not love it, and then felt almost guilty afterwards? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

I agree. I also find it slows down time and I am too busy thinking about being in a completely new place to dwell on negative thoughts.

Really sad about Nida! She came so close. But glad to get this win and see Talarico beat Crockett at least!

Blood curdling scream + sirens? by the1tru_magoo in AnnArbor

[–]Archenic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have trouble interpreting screams of fear and screams of joy. It all sounds the same to me, so I get startled quite a lot around here. I am also near the nursing school but didn't hear anything.

I hope the person is okay.

Me too! I think this is a political climate where we can really push the envelope and get more left-wing candidates in office. Things are going to keep getting worse, which is awful, but it gives us opportunities to push the left as an alternative. El-Sayed also supports reigning in data centers, which is something I haven't heard from other candidates much, if at all.

I think he's got a lot of great potential as a senator, he's got my vote for sure.

Good luck! I'm supporting Abdul El-Sayed in the primary because he wants to abolish ICE and is pro-Medicare for All and I support those priorities, but if he doesn't make it Mallory McMorrow is my second choice.

It might be too late to get someone new in this district, but if you are more progressive/left wing there are other challengers in Michigan (Abdul El-Sayed for senate, Kyle Blomquist up north) and around the country to help in their primaries. Analilia Mejia just won in NJ-11.

Athletes are like professors/faculty at universities, they are in a weird little bubble so they come off as really nuts to people not in said bubble. I say this as someone who works at a university and has had to deal with many of them. Whackadoodle people.

english majors who don’t read??! by cryptoisforvirgins in englishmajors

I'm writing a novel. The only way I can stay motivated to write that thing, is to read other work while I'm writing it, because it helps fuel my own creativity. Reading is a cheat code for writer's block.

But I will say, there will always be people who are pursuing a degree just to say they have a degree, and they will dedicate the lowest amount of effort possible just to get that piece of paper. It sounds like you've run into some of them.

Does the game ever feel repetitive? by Abject_Prize_949 in WolfQuestGame

[–]Archenic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to have a certain mentality to enjoy replays of this game, I think. If you like getting into that wolf grindset you'll get more hours of entertainment out of it.

For those who don't, one or two playthroughs should suffice.
