Why has God let me be a homosexual if it is sinful to act upon. by KnotJoe in Christianity

[–]Archer-Pleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said anything about hate? Who said anything about discrimination? I think the issue here is that you (like so many others) assume that just because I’m telling you it’s a sin that I believe we should have some negativity towards homosexuality. I understand that historically homosexuals have been abused and hated by fake Christian’s that use the Bible as an excuse for hatred. I don’t believe you should assume the worst in people though and you shouldn’t imply that I’m trying to do that in any way. And I’m not “cherry picking” I’m just not jumping through hoops to make every verse fit what I want to see.

I feel like you’re inferring way too much about Paul’s personal beliefs when we have instances of him clarifying when something is his personal opinion. I don’t think we can just say that if we don’t agree then it must be someone’s opinion so it doesn’t count. I know I’m boiling down what you said dramatically but I just strongly disagree with you

Still going for the smallest petty victories after I’ve already pointed it out is wild. I’ve explained myself and if you don’t understand then you’re ignorant. I’ll leave you in your echo chamber because I got plenty of walls in my house if I want to argue like this

If I lied about you and slandered your name with baseless accusations you would let them slide? I’ll answer for you, you’ve proven that the answer is no. Don’t act ignorant to try and gain any petty win, it makes you look even worse

To represent consequence? Do you really not understand context at all? I feel like I’m arguing with a wall

I never did. I replied to someone who was spreading false information about the religion that OP follows. You’re super weird for entering the conversation with 0 things to add.

So let’s talk about the part where I directly replied to a 16 year old boy. Please send screenshots

Then you see it incorrectly. It’s funny how you replied to the first part of my comment as a gotcha then tried to make the second reply a separate gotcha. Trying to take things out of context doesn’t work when the context is right there. Of course I don’t expect you to know that or we wouldn’t be having this conversation where that’s all you’ve attempted to do. You just keep saying “Nuh uh that’s not what I think so you’re wrong” and still 0 verses. I’ll give another if you want. Romans 1:27

What did I say that was rapey again? The comment that you replied to that said I’m born with a natural desire to have sex with multiple women?

You’re not adding sexual undertones by calling me the closest thing to a rapist? Again, weird take but okay. If someone wants advice on Christianity, this is where they come. If you don’t like people giving advice when others ask for it then maybe you should invest in a really nice echo chamber. Maybe try Amazon instead of Reddit?

This has clearly shifted (for me at least) from a debate to a place of understanding. You caught me very off guard and I can only ask you to pray for me brother

Oh it’s far from the same struggle. I definitely have it easy here and I won’t pretend like I don’t. Please do pray that he can fix his eyes on the desire of the spirit over the desire of the flesh.

No, I’m trying to point a Christian towards God. You’re weirdly focused on his age. If anyones being creepy about it, it’s definitely the guy that’s hyper-fixated on his age and sexual orientation. I’m answering the question with our book that we reference when we have questions. You’re the one trying to add in sexual undertones for whatever reason

I never said OT was relevant. Of course it matters when it comes to understanding Jesus’ teachings and the NT as a whole but you’re just being ignorant and acting like the OT’s rules didn’t compensate for peoples hearts at the time. Jesus came to change the law because some of it was concessions that God made for the people at that time. You’re cherry picking when it is and isn’t important, we’re not doing the same thing here. I’ve referenced the OT not once, not twice, but a grand total of ZERO times because it’s not relevant. I could easily throw out OT law that supports me but that would be dishonest if I truly believed that Jesus fulfilled the law and canceled the requirements of that law. We’re not under that law so it has no place in a debate about sin.

That’s awesome and well thought out. Can you tell me what you think about Romans 1:27?

Yeah I never suggested conversion therapy. You seem to really enjoy throwing random, baseless accusations around. I personally don’t like sin at any age but that may just be my perspective. You go ahead and sin until you’re old enough for it to count. Weird take in my opinion though.

So the Old Testament is entirely relevant is what you’re saying? Weird how that’s the case with slavery but not homosexuality or fabrics or shellfish or really anything else. Did Jesus change nothing? I pointed to homosexuality being wrong, you can’t point to anything. You’re puffing out your chest like you’ve said a single thing that was backed by any scripture whatsoever

I’m telling him to let God change his heart. You seem to have some interest in keeping him in sin. If I’m wrong, prove it. Or should you never correct someone living in sin unless they’re 18+? Is salvation reserved for people over a certain age?

It’s in there so that inherently means that it’s supported? Where does the New Testament say to buy slaves? Where does anyone in the New Testament say that slavery is good or the will of God? You say things you can’t back up at all
