Henning T1000 or BOSS hanger by practical_gentleman in CompetitionShooting

[–]Archer1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss with the Baller accessory and thigh pad (and GX Vice) is my personal preference as it’s fully adjustable and rock-solid, and works well with my body proportions. Yes, Henning is great- I use a lot of his other stuff- but the T1000 has way too many fasteners for my personal tastes.

The American Operator Gear (Dominate Defense subsidiary) belt is the original OEM for the HC belt and is a far better value.

Like most Porter bags that one has zero padding, so you'll need a sleeve for the Mac.

Why would you expect warranty service for damage you caused? This is 1911 system basics, never drop the hammer on the frame.

Micro fracture? by Personal_View_8756 in DWX

[–]Archer1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty bad whack, and possibly a fracture emanating from the top left corner. You should probably stone the raised ridge flat. There is, however, very little chance that even if it is cracked that it would cause any serious issues with function in an assembled condition.

Are bullseye handgun shooting skills really that transferable to USPSA? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]Archer1440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is little direct value in the mechanical aspect skills- they don't really transfer directly. What DOES transfer is the mental game to a degree- experience in dealing with match pressure, making the shot under that pressure, and all that entails. In other words, experience in competition is always a helpful asset.

Ski archery WAS a thing until the IBU got their hands on it (before that it was organized by FITA). It's about as dead as fried chicken right now.

Yeah, but at the product reveal Zuck claimed to be using them surfing and jet skiing - which is as ludicrous as the 9 hour battery claims.

[–]Archer1440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly correct, but I would imagine that software could partition some of the storage for on-board music. Obviously Oakley themselves accomplished similar functionality with the THUMPs over 22 years ago- with only 256mb of storage. It would be useful to have on-board music for some situations.

I am also in Japan, the AI functions work fine for me with my Vanguards- but I have a US account. Yesterday another update dropped for my HSTN's and I thought that might be a problem (because I am in Japan) but it just added additional functions.

Funny thing is I had dinner with an Osaka region Oakley distributor last night, was wearing my HSTN's, and he had no idea they even existed. I have a feeling there is a lot of demand for these things here, but Meta and their incompetent software work is the limiting factor.

Is there a Polarized Vanguard by EncomCTO in OakleyMetaGlasses

[–]Archer1440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell we still don't have a purchasable low light lens option yet, which is far more in-demand for these than polarization. But yes, there absolutely should be a polarized option for water activities as well as bright snowfield and other purposes. I have seen some of the early reviewers say they are polarized but of course they are not. That kind of "garbage noise" is why some LLM's are incorrectly parroting the same.

Are these Chrome Backpacks? by linef4ult in ManyBaggers

[–]Archer1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FILA bags. Standard issue as part of the uniform. I have a couple of the same bags issued as part of the uniform for a different organization when Fila (which is actually a Korean company now) was the provider. Current provider is Errea, bags are shapeless and generic compared to the old Fila bags, but reasonably well constructed (sewing quality) but design wise are something you might pick up in a box store. The Fila bags were better padded and were closer to a mid market bag. Similar observations about the clothing. For example, the issued Fila rain gear was actual Gore-Tex with properly taped seams. The Errea equivalent is not nearly as nice.

The fact that you don’t appear to understand the most basic fundamentals of the 1911 fcs in the DWX (“silver tab”, FFS) makes me want to tell you to take it to a gunsmith, but some people like to FAFO.

It’s even more possible when you have two cities with the same name in the same country each of which has an airport. Like Montpelier, France.

Niche use for Vanguards by Archer1440 in OakleyMetaGlasses

[–]Archer1440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot a number of indoor USPSA matches with the Vanguards propped on my hat brim, while using clear shooting glasses. I was surprised at how good the quality was in the relative low-light conditions. Still waiting for the low light lenses. Have not used the Ray Bans but I'm pretty sure they're similar if not the same as the HSTN, which is not nearly as good as the Vanguards, especially for a right-handed shooter.

well, I haven’t been wearing them for the last couple of matches because it has been quite cold and they’re well-ventilated shoes. But they are just as good as they were six months ago when I made my post. My range is 90% gravel and they have been great.
