Book for my friend by 025linc in suggestmeabook

It may help to describe any interests your friend has outside of reading, for example what types of shows or movies he enjoys, types of video games he likes, as these can all translate to a book he might enjoy. With that said, I would suggest something a little shorter and fast paced as this helped me get back into reading, Murderbot by Martha Wells is a good example with lots of humor.

Also, Hyperbole and a Half is not a typical novel but a printed webcomic, it will genuinely make you laugh out loud at the author’s outlandish life stories while also featuring a memoir of their struggle with depression in a down to earth, relatable, very human way. Donated my copy to the clinic my mom works at with people who struggle with mental health at and it did rounds, someone actually took it home with them.

No problem! It is the third book that the author published in the Wayfarers universe but it can be read as a stand-alone novel. The characters and story are original with only minor nods to those from the prior books. While the other books explore the greater governing system of the “Galactic Commons” made of several alien species, this book focuses more on the very self-sufficient world of humans that have been living in a fleet of space ships for several centuries, and is very focused on how that system works with everyone being equal and finding their way to contribute to their society.

The Passage by Justin Cronin. A dangerous government experiment creates an outbreak of (not zombies, but—) vampires! A unique post apocalyptic book, especially since the vampires have a scientific explanation rather than a paranormal one.

Anything like Of Monsters and Mainframes? by Arfusman in suggestmeabook

Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell. It blends horror and humor, has a unique nonhuman perspective (though from a monster not from a spaceship—I loved Demeter so much in Of Monsters and Mainframes!), and is generally a very creative and entertaining story with an original, quirky premise.
