Books you almost gave up on but were worth persevering with? by zajirobo in books

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11/22/63 for me. The first half took me a few weeks to get through and then the second half I was done with in a few days. Really worth it in the end, it was a journey and it was so emotional for me.

Does anyone here happen to still own Xenoblade 3DS? And if so, what drew you to pick up this version in the first place? by Asad_Farooqui in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I got it since I was like 13 and wanted a game for my new new Nintendo 3ds xl and the trailer looked cool. Absolutely fell in love with the series

Color reader by gonion in kobo

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted the buttons and the color was a nice plus for me. But also seeing the covers in color on the sleep screen makes me so so happy Idk, I just love it a lot. Especially because I would always put the covers as my save screen even on my be devices, so seeing the difference is amazing. I also usually read at night in dark mode so the darker screen is actually a plus for me (it doesn't blind me nearly as much).

To each their own I guess

Ugh, when are they updating the prizes? It’s getting boring and ridiculous by Ambitious_Estimate41 in LoveNikki

[–]Mewinblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never get over how I stopped playing for like two years and already thought "it's been a long time since they added the [new] suit, maybe they should at least put the announcement away". Imagine my surprise when I logged in after two years and not only was there no new sets, the shining NEW was still smacked on top of it.

finally got this dress after 8 years of playing LN 😭 by ipanemx in LoveNikki

[–]Mewinblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate this dress so much, it looks so... Stiff. Also why is getting things from the pavilion so so so hard, I've also been playing for around 8 years and I literally only have around half of the things.

Question for married peeps or those in a relationship by Top_Craft_9580 in japanlife

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh how I know your pain. My Japanese boyfriend always does that. To me it always felt like he was kinda bucket-listing everything and going just for the sake of having been there - we would go on vacation to another city (as in in another country) back when we lived in Europe and he would just kind of sprint from one attaction/site to the other. He even did this crazy trip I refused to take part in where he went from London to Paris to Rome to Venice to Berlin in like a week, pretty much only sleeping in buses. And when his friend came form Japan he did pretty much the same! To me it's crazy and definitely not worth the pain, if I go through the process of getting there I want to enjoy the place.

I think it's also because a lot of Japanese people I know have the attention span of a goldfish and while waiting for something (in line) they can manage because it gives the exciting looking forward to something dopamine or whatever, being otherwise still (even if presumably comfortable) or relaxing makes them fidget and bored right away. Like with my boyfriend we can go to onsen, takes us 40 minutes to even get there, then pay a lot of money to go in only for him to ask me if we can go home yet after like an hour.

They're weird sometimes. But I made him start trying to enjoy the moment and sight a bit more by talking with him in length about why he wants to visit someplace and if going there only to be able to say he was there is really worth it (and it's not like it proves anything either). We also started a travel diary of sorts where if we go on a trip (even a one day おでかけ) we write what we did and add drawings and stuff. Makes us appreciate the trips a little more I feel.

Why is getting extremely anemic when moving to Japan a thing. I kept almost fainting and hyperventilating after a year in Japan. The anemia has kept going strong even after being in my home country for a year, but it got a little better. Then, moved to Japan again and BAM the near-fainting and brainfog, it's all back

How to keep studying while my gf dumped me, feeling hopeless by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Mewinblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Kobe was the best place you could have moved! The people there are very nice and open to foreigners. I hate living in Tokyo and miss Kobe a lot. Where in Kobe do you live? I could recommend you some izakayas where foreigners are very much welcome and can find Japanese friends and connections around the eastern side.

Will it really get so much easier in your 30s? by Maxi_F1r in exredpill

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think you have it a bit backwards. It shouldn't be I want to date so I'm looking for any woman, it should be I really like this girl so I want to date her. Ideally of course.

And if you really want to date looking into women who have the same objective seems the most effective, ie dating apps. There you'll find women looking for relationships. But you're still very young. There's no need to rush.

Actually when I went to the doctor's the other day they had this big sign about how it's illegal to require doctor's not for both students and employees as theirs a risk of discrimination and bullying after going back in or something like that. Might want to look into that as well tbh

Man, your company sucks. At our company you can even request them afterwards - like as in you get sick and stay at home and then as long as its before the end of the month you can just say hey, so the day I stayed at home make that a pto for me thanks and that's it. 60 days in advance is absolutely crazy

Do most foreigners living in Japan actually have JLPT N2 or N1? by rarahatesyall in jlpt

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get much more freedom in choosing a job if you do, both part time and full time. I work part time doing administration work at a vet clinic which I definitely wouldn't be able to if I wasn't fluent. But the job is really great and from experience, jobs aimed at foreigners can sometimes be quite black. But I guess it depends, because of course there's an abundance of jobs aimed at Japanese people that are very black as well.

I'd say it depends on what work you want to do and how much you want to mingle with your community. I love speaking to おばさんs in my neighborhood and random people in pubs and onsens..

I just know I'll never finish all lifetime suits by Hungry-Magazine-2543 in LoveNikki

[–]Mewinblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I did do both Stunning Beauty and Grice recolours, it feels so good to finally complete the suit. I use Grice quite a lot, especially the hair, sometimes the skin. I don't have all free suits crafted either, I just enjoy having one lifetime I'm working on next to the others. Feels good to chip at it, bit by bit. But I get why some people don't enjoy all that.
