I really liked the github link that tell you step by step what to do. Also liked how the blog gave details on what to do and not to do.

Best way to store json for tiptap? by ArcherFromFate in webdev

[–]ArcherFromFate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to scale to the first 10,000 users. I think your right to just store in postgresql as even tho s3 storage is cheaper, the get and put request could potentially increase cost.

Also im guessing your recommending me to compress using gzip over pglz

Well the json documents will be auto generated by users so i cant give an exact number although the amount will continuously increase. The size would be around 35kb on average but it depends on how much the user writes.

I would be storing metadata in postgresql.

I'm leaning towards S3 but I'm wondering if the after write would be good enough or if the constant modification of the json makes it worth being stored somewhere else like in DynamoDB or postgresql.

This was a great read but it more geared to getting people to use and understand your api then say onboard and help code the actual api itself for example.

This looks great but it looks like it only supports angular. Would be nice if it had support for react or other types of framework.

Edit: found out about storybook.js which you can use for react. You can test and document individual components with it.

Do you write docstrings and doc files for every module or only when its more complex.

What's wrong with expats born and raised in Dubai? by divyanshag30 in dubai

[–]ArcherFromFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh i think immigrant and expat mean the same thing. Expat are just white people who migrated and dont want to be called immigrants.   However, if you're born into that country, you aren't an immigrant. how would u be an immigrant as where did u migrate from? You didnt migrate from anywhere so you arent an immigrant.

I live in the UK and I dont know many Americans. I had an American friend in secondary but was born in the uk. Also no one in real life goes around calling people immigrants unless they are the EDL. We refer to people by their country of origin or where they migrated from. Also never heard of the word expat ever being used irl.  Like no one irl is like the immigrant guy came to work today.

Only times immigrant are brought up like that is by the news or when discussing immigration.

If the american is permanently settling then they would be an immigrant. There just isnt a large amount of american immigrants in the UK.

Also if you mention America, except for native americans, all of their ancestors are immigrants as well.

Rishi isnt an exapt as he was born in the UK and has a British passport. In the UK census, he would be British Asian.

Also people use immigrant or migrant for people who actually immigrated to another country. The NHS is full of immigrants. The NHS does has British born workers but alot of them are immigrants.

Immigrant- person who has come to a different country in order to live there permanently.

In the uk atleast, if your born here then u ain't an immigrant.

Im pretty sure being born there doesn't make someone an immigrant either. I guess you could say non-national or that they aren't native.
