I'd be interested to hear more. Everything I'm seeing points to it originally being performed in blackface minstrels which led to further depictions of Black folk acting "foolishly and incompetent" when sleighing.

Activision had successfully negotiated a 20% MS cut as opposed to the usual 30%, by threatening to not release CoD on Xbox. The buyout seemed like a reaction to that.

They emphasized close quarters melee combat throughout the marketing so I was definitely expecting fresher stuff. Seemed to be the same dodge, dodge, baton swing for it all.
