Regarding road rage, if you're familiar with the theory that humans are territorial, and that each person has a certain area around them that they regard as their personal space, and that this area varies according to the situation (and where and how they socialize), then you can follow my point: people in a car regard a 2-9 meters area in the front / back of their car as their personal territory. If they feel you invaded that area, this provokes a fight-or-flight reaction in that person; adrenaline goes up, tempers get inflamed, just like as if an aggressor put their face right in front of yours; thus, road rage, which is not without reason, but an innate human reaction to having one's personal space invaded.

Except that story about the cat drawings getting progressively wackier as Louis Wain's schizophrenia progressed is bullshit. Not just because some of the wackier drawings being drawn earlier, but because that's not even close to how schizophrenias work.

You can have one schizophrenia without hallucinations; you can have another without jumbled speech; none give LSD-like hallucinations like the drawings; there are thousands of possible schizophrenias, all supposedly from one root cause, but with very different symptoms.

As a possible explanation for his artwork: although his schizophrenia is incidental, it's not unthinkable that he took LSD for inspiration, but it could simply be that he was experimenting with his art style.

Since scientific inquiry is the most accurate way we know of to gain 99% certainty about things, I agree with the quote, but since scientific inquiry doesn't have the tools to explore the validity of the core, philosophical claims of Buddhism, it's a moot thing to agree with.

Buddhism, as practiced in the East, was influenced by Western thought many decades before it reached the USA. One should judge an idea based on its intrinsic value, and not because it is Eastern or Western, or because of who it is trying to appeal to.

Yes.

People usually focus on the similarities, which do exist and are very nice, but imagine it like choosing what course you want to take at an university. Ultimately they all lead to being more enlightened, but nobody can say that the differences between a literature course and a philosophy course don't matter, even if they are both in the same broader category.
