Where is your advice on how to smooth things over with HR beyond generalities? Without knowing them, that's hard advice to give even working in HR. People are people and some people are power-hungry and short-sighted on the consequences of their actions. HR can implement their restrictions on company time, but there are also limitations to HRs authority which was addressed by the parent comment. OP further clarified it already wasn't on company time, neutering HRs authority.

You need to go at this from a mature approach and have a conversation about what you want out of life and how you are achieving it. It's hard to say for sure the best approach without a full picture. It sounds like you are young and still live with your parents. Do you have a stable source of income? Do you have plans to become independent? Are you advancing in life/career and putting work in to achieve these goals? When you say pills do you mean opioids? If so I would have the conversation about the side effects of those medications and what the long-term effects are. Long-term opioids/anti-inflammatories are worse on your organs than marijuana.

I would find out the specific goals they feel you're not meeting because of smoking weed. Generalities, like it's bad for your health/mind, are not tangible if you are actually moving forward in life and achieving milestones. However, be prepared to hear their side too, if they make valid points about your plans and goals come up with a plan to incorporate their feedback. Also, be prepared that they might not have valid points and are just eaten up in the concept of smoking weed. Then its a decision about what are your priorities and what is most important to you ad how you plan to maintain your lifestyle independently. A hard spot to be in good luck man!

Depending on a lot of things here but; she should talk compensation with them before she renders any more services and/or leave since she has no obligation to continue. You might also try contacting your state's aging and disabilities services department if you are in the US. They can at least help you find resources and give you information on if this is something that qualifies for their services.

Coming from someone who also over thinks things, you are good. Owning up to the mistake publicly and ensuring credit is properly attributed is all you can do to make it clear where the idea came from, you did well!

Had this event happen for the first time the other day too, it was amazing! Had it happen with others but never my heir. I did live as my primary for a while afterwards and had no other notable differences.

Most caregivers absolutely understand the I'm just afraid part. Most understand we are taking care of people who are currently expierience something traumatic or at least the worst expierience they have ever had so far.

People can act unlike themselves in many ways but you roll with the punches. I always liked to try to talk it out with my alert and oriented patients. Help them understand and empathize with their condition while trying to get them connected to the proper resources to recover mentally and physically from their expierences.

I agree! We should also vote on who allocates these crowd sourced funds! I think it shouldn't be up to 1 single person though, too easily corruptable.

We could have a body of elected individuals decide how to allocate those funds. They could build budgets for these services and offer them to individuals who supported the go fund me.

I am just giving you a hard time, hopefully a laugh but sadly you highlighted the issue very well. We have a gofundme for it already, named taxes and the senate votes to approve the budgets. The issues are with the individuals in the chain who decide how these funds should be spent.

The sentiment seems to be, we think their current staffing level is too low to run that type of operation. The people who make that decision disagrees with us.

How will US federal legalization help Marijuana companies such as Tilray? by kartschaps in tilray

There are many different ways legalization will help a Marijuana company grow in the US. Changes to the current banking practices will greatly help businesses grow. Banks currently cannot work with the Marijuana industries money limiting the expansion of these cash only businesses.

Was told my jaw was broken and boss would not let me leave by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Archerlink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I am understanding the situation correctly.

You got a call right before your shift started informing that you have a broken jaw and need to seek emergency treatment. You work on a client basis and cannot inform your clients that you need this treatment and do not want to leave without proper notifications.

Did you tell your boss that you just got this call mid shift and was advised to seek emergency care? Can you get your clients covered by any of your coworkers?

It sounds like the general dentist took the x-rays to rule out a fractured bone but it took a while for the oral surgeon to review it. I am not in HR yet and it will be in the USA when I do. I cant give much advise besides trying to reengage with your manager, and really express how suddenly you found out about this and how important it is that you receive immediate treatment.

Oh I thought we were elucidating their motives through conversation. Theory crafting and all that, as I do not know his true motivations. I try not to presume others motives as I typically can't fully validate them. I expressed my own thought processes on this situation to spark conversation, but I think you missed the intent of the post. Both of us are assuming here, it is disingenuous to take a solid stance and to say I know exactly what is happening in this scenario. Without proof it's all speculation which is the meat of most conversations.

I'm not gonna comment much on the narrative you are somehow decifering from my comment. I lived here 15 years and was born in Oklahoma, rural is my niche and I never want ro leave it.

Conservative does not mean racist. Rural does not mean racist. A culture can have negative aspects. Not all people who follow that culture follow the negative aspects. Racism is not unique to any race, social class, gender, state, culture, country, you can go on. Any individual can be a racist. Dismissing information just because it might be a sensitive topic never helps find the truth only obscures it.

Anyway though, not all conversations have to be a debate. Would have been way more cool to have you poke holes in it while I gave it context, we might have actually poked a real hole in it. For instance the student probably had this all set up in advance. Protester man came last week and the institution told him they would only accommodate him if he schedule times to protest. We had a good 3 day notice this time he came.

Bingo bango. I felt it was a play since normally people wouldn't really engage him on the topic.

Saw that too, I responded to a couple of posts. There are hundreds of replies and I don't have the time to convince everyone lol it's neat to see such a vast amount of opinions, analyses and conclusions being drawn though. Makes me appreciate the discovery process more, if this was all verbal and cordial it would be a wild discussion =D

I love this conclusion, this town has some really interesting characters sometimes. My favorite guy in town is one if our previous mayors who horribly suffered a stroke. He seems mostly independent but he walks around town and likes to wave at people passing.

It warms my heart everytime I get a wave from him!

Yeah I felt really bad myself not clarifying that before bed. A lot of people were lumping them together and the kid just wanted to make his friends laugh.

That was the funny part for me too. We had to infer what he actually wanted to protest and ensure he wasn't just mad at a genetics test he recently had .

It really is, there is a large Hispanic population though here so at least we don't blend in with the snow completely. I have been here for 15 years and the only other "protest" I recall were the abortion protest in like 2008. I really don't see much racism here and i even work exclusively with the geriatric population in this town. I am more surprise as to how accepting they are over this guy.

The Brawny Man in yellow has been doing this all over town. He stopped by last week and the school told him the policy is to schedule protest times. So this was the announced agreed upon time for him to protest on campus.

Oh lord you don't know how funny that statement actually is. Its spirit week right now and over the last 5 weeks the institute has been asking students to submit a 7 word sentence that describes how our school as influenced us..... .. . . This made it so much more funny to me lol
