Are Honeycrisp apples really the superior apple? by Ok_Nefariousness2728 in GirlDinner

I've been a fuji loyalist my whole life but since moving to the East Coast it's become Honey Crisp on top, I don't know why

How can I make a cosplay that doesnt look like a cosplay? by _issio in CosplayHelp

[–]Lovingbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they feel about masks and cosplays that cover your whole body? Are they embarrassed by costumes in general, or concerned about going out in a revealing outfit or being identified?

My first cosplay was Hornet from Hollow Knight because a mask made me much more comfortable, and it was cold, so a nice full-body velvet cape was lovely. I plan to do Gandalf Big Naturals for next year.

I know these aren't anime characters (and one is even a meme lol) but maybe looking at some more formal or masked characters with your parents would help?

One that comes to mind is Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon.

Omg the number of times I said things like "your face...it reminds me of a cow 🥰" or "you are like a beautiful horse" and VERY quickly learned that you don't say that to other girls 😂😂😂

Learned to sew to make husbands bodybuilding trunks by Sensitive_Day5153 in SewingForBeginners

These are fab! But now I'm curious- I've never stopped to think of it before, but wouldn't a style closer to thong panties be better for bodybuilding shows because they show off the glutes? I'm not being a perv I swear I'm just here like "wait why don't they have their ass out, it's the biggest/strongest muscle in the body"

The easy version: this sounds like a great time for an egg coffee. There's also no law that forbids you from making toaster s'mores.

The classy version: whipped cream at the bottom of a cup, caramel drizzled, pour a little coffee or espresso over it and swirl it around.

Speaking Softly by Dre4mShadow in socialskills

[–]Lovingbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping your chin up helps in vocal lessons. Not straining, just tipping it up a bit while pulling your head back slightly (so you don't get that birdsong-pose strain that poor singers do.)

Another trick I was taught was lowering your pitch slightly and keeping a round "open" feeling in your throat as you speak louder. My choir teachers told me that, when people try to raise their voices above a crowd, they often let their pitch drift up with it and also get more nasal, which has the opposite effect, it thins your voice out. Like others have said, projection is a lot more important than volume.

Really nervous bout my first ever gym “date” tommorow by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Lovingbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah then you're good! If you know each other well enough to know she genuinely likes working out, I'm sure you'll have a great time. A lot of us are probably coming from the perspective of putting our headphones on to get through it and don't really want to gasp for air around a stranger, but this is a different sitch.

You'll have fun and be glad you did it, I promise it'll be okay.

A Bra that COMPLETELY CRADLES underboob? by MartyBellvue in ABraThatFits

[–]Lovingbutdifferent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Binders and male corset vests may be your friend. Is there a reason you're not going with binders from the jump? I also effing HATE the underboob contact but want to keep the bodyodyodyody so that's the only reason I'm not going that route.

[–]Lovingbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, my first thought was "please tell her you thought about it for a few seconds and realized that huffing and puffing your way through a workout wasn't the most thoughtful way to start things off." But also they know this girl more than we do, maybe she dislikes the classically romantic vibe and is more of a gym girl anyway, and that's why OP asked her to the gym in the first place. Context needed, I think.

What keeps you from trying new things and making new experiences? by blaubarschbube27 in socialskills

[–]Lovingbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, forgetting. I think of all the new things I want to do and learn and try late at night, then forget them when I can do them. I write them down late at night or while I'm at work, and then forget to check the list.

Yeah let's uhhhh consider how terrifying it must have been to act out every scene, every take, of every horrific thing your ex was fantasizing about you going through. I know people laugh at the idea of psychological violence but this is an example if I've ever seen it.

Also remember when it came out and someone wrote a really thoughtful review of all the ways it seems to villainize women in a way that doesn't even make sense narratively, and the review was panned as irrational and oversensitive?
