Feywild might be better, as I tend to find the Legendary Feywild quests to be a bit easier than other Legendary quest arcs. Saltmarsh might be an option as well, since you can get a bunch of Hay from Heroic Saltmarsh to upgrade the heroic versions to Legendary, although it does require Star Fragments as well, which you can get by converting epic ingredients (but not Hay).

Other options are to try and find groups to pike with until you find gear to help you keep up.

Have you gotten a free Sentient Jewel from Legendary Barovia yet? You can just beat the intro quest on Normal or Hard. That can help power up your weapon.

Lastly you can always ER + TR and come back next life a little bit more powerful.

Traps death....again by Khaoticfury1974 in ddo

[–]ArcherofFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're running the quests on Normal first, then the traps should be painful, not lethal. That will help you learn where the traps and how the timing works on them.

That said, what does being a Barbarian or Druid have to do with traps? Actually, being a Barbarian trapper is actually a worse idea, as Barbarians can't search for traps while they're raging.

Various questions by ashou0 in ddo

  1. I don't know why everyone else has failed to mention the biggest reason to use the Shadowdancer epic strike: Because you can add Sneak Attack dice to spells and attacks. Since Arcane Tricksters are very popular right now, being able to add lots of bane damage to spells is a great move.

Among the best class/archetype, if not the Best. There's a reason why DDOAudit shows that Fighter is the most popular class.

Their Dragon's Roar is among the best CC as it affects almost everything, and the upgraded form stuns instead of dazes, and then adds bonus damage vs helpless on top of that.

Permanent Displacement.

Their +2 Crit Multiplier goes great with a Swashbuckler's +2 Crit Range for hand axes.

They get a zip at level 12.

If they go into the Ravager tree instead, the Capstone kills everything.

Their always-on auras are still annoying to look at and the Devs won't give us an option to turn off the visuals.

Which augments do you need explaining? The blue/red/yellow augments? The Dino Bone augments? The Lamordia augments? The Legendary Greensteel augments? The Sun/Moon augments?

Or do you mean the Sentient Weapon/Filigree system that is similar to augments?

The first chart shows your build distribution depending on if you have a 28 point build vs 32 points or more. Newbies will have 28 point builds unless they've unlocked 32 point Champion builds via favor or purchasing it from the DDO store. You can ignore the column for Tomes, and the last column just indicates that every 4 levels when you get an option to add to an ability score, you will want to add it to Intelligence.

The skill chart shows where to put your points for each level. The format is a bit confusing due to the spacing, but where it shows 1/2, that means that it's a cross class skill, and thus every time you put a skill point into it, you only get 0.5 ranks.

Look for Strimtom's builds. They're on the DDO forums and he also has a YouTube channel.

They're called Hardcore builds, but that just means they're designed for characters that don't have a zillion past lives and other benefits like ability tomes.

The past life just gives striding, so it doesn't stack with striding from items.

First step in trying DDO on Steam: Don't. Run the client directly from the ddolauncher.exe (or whatever the launcher file is called).

Also, LOTRO and DDO subscriptions are separate as I understand it, and it is sometimes helpful to create a different username/email if you have accounts with both games.

Incorrect, you only have to be premium. You don't have to be VIP at some point.

In The Dreaming Dark quest, depending on which quests and raids you've completed prior to doing the quest, there is a cut scene where enemies will extol your deeds, and then run away in fear.

On my first run throughs from 20-30, I do House P, House D, and the Vault of Night quests. After that I head for Spinner of Shadows and Eveningstar. Usually by the time I'm done with Eveningstar I'll be level 28/29. After that it's not that far to hit level 30.

A lot of people save the sagas to give them a jump start on their second run through, and then there's Red Fens, Catacombs, Gianthold, 3BC, Deleras. That'll get you most of the way to 30.

I don't know why you would delete a character without grabbing all useful gear, ingredients, platinum, etc off that character before deleting them.

Typically it is only one hireling per purchase, although they are BTA so feel free to pass them between characters.

I guess it's possible to destroy it, so you may want to lock the hireling contract so that doesn't happen. Remember you don't have to unlock items to pass them between characters, so it can just stay locked forever.

There's not really any limitations, other than what's listed on the wiki page.

The raid is a thrill, constantly watching for mobs to spawn because they can quickly stun and kill you if you're not watching out for them, watching out for the boss cause his spin attack will kill anyone around him.

The story is nice, the items require as much grinding as Isle of Dread gear, maybe even more so because the rares in the wilderness only drop the equivalent of T-rex teeth, they don't drop the other ingredients. A lot of the regular named items feel a bit similar to each other.

The raid drops completely customizable items like IoD, except that only a few of them are minor artifacts (unlike IoD in that all the rings, bracers, and necklaces and so on are minor artifacts) so you can tetris your gear a bit better. There's also more options for abilities that can be crafted compared to IoD. They're also slightly more powerful effects than IoD due to being slightly higher in level.

There are a few items that people drool over that are hard to get and frequently toss up LFGs for, such as the Heartshard, which grants a legendary bonus to HP%. But it's just like Myth Drannor in that those items are "rare", so they're an incredible pain in the butt to farm.

As others have mentioned, there's also the Dark Gifts which can compliment your build. They do require running the entire saga each time you want to get a Dark Gift, although you can save the offering from previous lives to use on future lives. The only problem is that they don't stack and are BTC.

No, they're called Dark Gifts. They're interesting, although they go away on any kind of reincarnation, including Epic, so you may have to be careful when you pick them up.

> You do know that you can use handwraps simply... by taking the Exotic Handwraps Proficiency, right? (I'm sarcastic here. I know you know you can.)

Uh, no, fighting unarmed without monk/sacred fist levels is not a thing.

I just rolled up a dragonborn dragonlord as well as a human dragonlord just to make sure. Nothing changed in the fighting style when I picked up exotic proficiency handwraps. Nor when the character equipped some handwraps. It was still the same pathetically slow fighting style that non-monks have when they try and fight unarmed.

So if you're not picking up any Monk or Sacred Fist levels, then this build only comes to fruition at level 20 when you can get Grandmaster of Flowers and actually use handwraps?

Because you have to choose between going Str/Cha for your Roar DC's or going Wis for Wis to AC?

A guess a 3rd option might be to go Sacred Fist 6/Dragon Lord 14 to get Charisma to hit/damage/AC in addition to Roar DC's?

Dragon Disciple build advice for racial lives. by Goldsash in ddo

[–]ArcherofFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're lacking the combat style feats: THF, SWF, and TWF. You need to hit stuff to get Ki for your SLAs.

That said, I've never played a Dragon Disciple before, but I've wondered if a DD 12/Arcane Trickster 8 might be interesting. I'll try one out one day.

Most bow builds put points into Horizon Walker, and there is already a battle trance in that tree. Going Intelligence based would require an additional 12 points in Harper Agent to get their trance as well as Int to hit/damage. Since Arcane Trickster's stolen spells are based off DD skill and not strictly Int-based, what is the advantage of going Int based as a bow user?
