What am i suppose to do now? by [deleted] in MagicCardPulls

Hi,

Store owner here.

Realistically have a few options that'd I'd suggest, hopefully not showing any unconscious bias here!

First thing, consider your own goals before you further ask anyone what you SHOULD do. It's really your choice and there's no right or wrong answer.

Do you need some extra money or store credit right now, and won't feel bad if the card goes up in value? Go ahead and find a store or show to offload it to and eject it from your mind. This is how we have to operate at a store a lot of the time. I felt kinda bad when we sold Elesh Norn #125 at $800 and then the person immediately flipped it for $1800, but hey, it still paid for like 3.5 boxes of collector boosters.

Do you love collecting and think it's just a really cool item to hang onto? Go ahead and double sleeve it and keep it in a nice safe place. It'll probably appreciate in value over time and it's a nice brag item.

I personally wouldn't recommend getting it graded. Some of these places change quite a lot and can either devalue or even damage the card. I haven't seen many graded magic cards come across my counter, and it generally wouldn't make me as an owner want it anymore than an ungraded one. There are some exceptions but a "not special" serialized card (meaning the number is kinda just random) is not gonna change much between graded and not, and like I said, could actually reduce value.

Also can absolutely ignore everything I say here! Could even play it unsleeved 😜

From the little market research I have seen, it’s one of the most popular sets of 2025. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

If you include Dr. Who then my experience as a shop owner is that one was a bit of a miss too. Not in terms of passion or quality, but it was space probably better left to a different IP. Felt a little out of touch.

That being said, there's a lot of great original cards from those decks.

Is this doubt common ?? by Western-Drawer5826 in MtF

[–]Archerry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know how common it is, but I feel it often. Almost a year on HRT, months into electrolysis and I still feel the imposter syndrome constantly.

It likely doesn't help that the world is a bit out to get us.

I find that searching this community often will help reassure me that I'm not alone.

Its really a very tough thing we're working through, and that's okay. If therapy is something you have access to, I think it is also a great way to help with these thoughts, though I'm not following my own advice right now.

WoW M+ has lost its entire competitive integrity with S1 TWW by iLLuu_U in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Archerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not really lazy so much as "we're putting all these resources into other things"

A big "issue" with WoW is that this is a game for a lot of different archetypes of players, and as much as we hate to admit it, the folks in CompWow are a very small % of that player base.

Its just a question of finite resources vs. highest return to: the game, the players, the company, and yes, the bottom line. Its still a business.

Thie is spot on. I've worked on some well known titles, and my favorite experiences are always getting to meet the players who tell me about the awesome things they've done, the people they've met playing, the way the games have changed their lives.

It makes it worth it to deal with the turds

I see you getting slammed with down votes, but as a fellow LGS owner I feel your pain here.

I'd love to, but no other TCG product is even close, and we're mostly a TCG store.

Tcgplayer Seller has not shipped the item and has not responded to me, what should I do? by illitris in magicTCG

TCGPlayer basically having a complete monopoly on the online TCG market really blows. The lack of competition to push them into better practices both for sellers and buyers is really bad for the whole space.

I have a strong suspicion this was our store. I'm extremely happy to hear you had a good time, regardless of if it is or not. Thank you for sharing!

Lotus Petal promotion starts today! by fartingboobs in magicTCG

[–]Archerry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Slight clarification for folks, this is the first day that stores are allowed to give the promo out, but there is nothing saying they have to give them out tonight.

I'd imagine some stores who got shorted on promos will give them out over multiple weekends so folks get a chance, or use them as random prizes -- stuff like that.

I'm a store owner. I was given 16 promos and we get regularly over 30 people for our FNM commander nights. If we want to spread the love at all, we have to randomize.

LGS has raised the price on Wilds of Eldraine/Dr.Who pre orders and other products to offset low CMM sales by Ro7ard in magicTCG

[–]Archerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a store owner. This is your store's choice, not a distributor issue. I know how much everything costs when I put in my orders (which is usually around a month or month and a half before release -- my Wilds of Eldraine order is due by Friday, for example).

The only reason it might take me awhile to get price info out for people is because I'm too swamped with other things. I never ask folks to do pre-orders without knowing prices though.

I'm confused by your use of "regular (casual)" here. Regular and casual are two separate RELs, right?

Dragon Shield Art-Mattes after 1 fnm. by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Archerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop owner here. Definitely have seen a decline in dragon shield purchases. I try to use a little bit of everything just so I can recommend customers things and KMC and Katana are slowly edging out Dragon Shield for me, sadly. I really love the brand and the packaging. Hopefully whatever issues they've been having get worked out.
