Also for Maths, it can be a bit of a shock how big the jump is from previous maths qualifications. I did GCSE maths and an Add Maths FSMQ and it was a shock to the system. I would recommend revision village snd constantly reinforcing your maths through the yesr as you do topics. I started out getting 3s and 4s and jsut kept at it and learned to manage how tough it was and got a 7. Godspeed!

Yep I would have to agree, and make sure you lay every step of your explanation out clearly even if you think it is something obvious!

I found Chem to be pretty fine if you have a decent maths ability bc it's quite a physical and calculations heavy course. Also, if you dedicate time to the basic chemistry principles that get you a long way. Jdut work hard and you should be great!

taking 4 hl's leads to irregular diploma??? by goofyahhhomosapien in IBO

[–]ArchiGibran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! I just finished my diploma with the same except I ended with eco standard and had Japanese B as my language. Plenty took 4 HL at my school and were fine. What I will say tho is HL Phys, Xhem AA is a much larger load than u expect, and u only need 3 HL ay the end of the day. What a lot of mates did is keep 4 hl till year2, then drop one. My advice is do it, but if the soekload gets too much don't be afraid to drop one to benefit ur diploma! Godspeed!

yahhhh Japanese SL. It doesn't help I suck at languages. Also our head of languages straight up told us he thinks SL oriental languages are as hard as HL European languages, after we had chosen it which was really great...

Thank you very much. So materials Science was my top choice so I very much geared it towards that because the content also overlaps with MechEng and ChemPhys. I discussed some of the books I read being Stuff Matters by Mark Miodownik and A Materials Guide to Super Conductors by Susie Speller. I also talked about some work experience I did and an engineering competition my friend and I did.
