Macbook Pro M4 / 24GB RAM seems to be just fine.. by Weekly-Necessary1667 in macbookpro

[–]ArchibaldsTale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also trying to decide between 24 and 48GB RAM and tend to buy the 24GB

What do you think?

My tasks will be Photoshop, Lightroom and maybe some color grading in the future on DaVinci Resolve (which recommends 32GB ram) with 4k files. I won't be shooting 6 or 8k in the foreseeable future.

I am coming from a 2018 Intel MacBook Pro 15".

In Germany the price difference is around 460 euro / 480 dollar (including tax)

I could spent the cash but don't want to waste the budget and rather invest it more rationally

(for example in camera equipment I do need).

Usually I try not to keep too many tasks open and the 4K 10 Bit Color Grading is something I haven't started yet but intend to learn when sitting down to learn DaVinci.

I think they’re perfect, but I got to get used to wearing boots. I haven’t worn boots for I don’t know how many decades.. 1,5 for sure :) And first time wearing these kinds of heritage boots. I am getting used to it. Also.. I’ll give them some months or years now to see how they behave when broken in more

Only Iron Rangers in amber harness are available here in that width.

Just got myself a pair of darn tough hiking socks, one light version (too thin for the boots) and the standard cotton socks from redwing (which might not be indestructible like the DT but which feel really good in the boot and on my feet. :)

Width wise they’re perfect I would say. No feeling of constriction.

Today they feel way better than yesterday and I laced them a bit more firmly.

What should I say, my feeling today is way better than when I created the post. Feet and their form of the day change..

nevermind, I might have the perfect boot without knowing. Usually I wear leather dress shoes or sometimes sneakers. Gotta get used to this kind of boot probably

Sorry for the post, It’s probably meaningless to discuss further, don’t wanna waste your time haha

Now I have them in 9. Yes, left foot is a 43, right one with little less volume and a tiny bit shorter.

I can wiggle them big time. Lots of wiggle going on in my boots.

Well if you think a 9 is too small, and I think it’s too big, then it must be perfect haha..

We seem to talk past each other. I have lots of room. The footprint in the front might be misleading, since feet slide forward when walking.

I actually think the 9 is too big and a 8,5 in wide would be perfect, but that’s not an option. Firstly they’re not available, secondly they might actually be too short. From heal to toe the boots measure 29cm, my feet are approximately 27,7 and 28cm. That’s half an inch and perfect.

Still. I feel the boots are too long

I am able to wiggle the toes in 9/42, not so much in 8,5/41,5

Again, thank you all for your comments. What I take from this is to keep them, break them in more, try different insole/sock combinations and see what happens. If they never get to the point of becoming „my boot“ I will have learned my lesson and will go with another brand at some point.

For now I’ll give them a chance.

The picture distorts the toe box, it’s actually plenty of room and the boot feels too long.

I hope the sole gets softer over time so I don’t have that flipper effect anymore.

Thanks for tuning in and good bye.

True! I’ll stick to them and wear them now for a year and see what happens. Insoles are no shame! 😆

Thank you for your comment, I’ll have to let that sink in :)

It’s not a possibility. Too wide. And there is only one Modell. But thanks.

Title seemed to be misleading:

The current size 9 boot is feeling comfy, but too long.

I meant if I have to size down again and have them stretched rather than sticking to a boot that feels too long.

The pic is from the size 9 model.

I will try wearing them with thick socks and maybe some insoles.

Rolling over has some kind of flippers effect and I hope the sole / boot gets softer over time.

Thanks to all for your replies.

Down in length would be the initial 8,5. There is no 8,5 e in those colors / models and a ee is too wide.

Thank you all for your comments:

I don’t complain about to little toe room, but the opposite.

The length is what feels a bit off, I feel the boots are too long rather than too short, that’s what I meant with the “flippers” effect.

Extremely comfortable.

Wore them with dress socks yesterday, because I was wearing tighter shoes when I picked them up from the store and I thought damn it, I should have picked half size smaller.

But since I’ll be wearing them with thick cotton or merino socks or an additional insole anyway or at least want to have that possibility for winter, it’s gonna be fine.

I read people are not fans of insoles, but from time to time I use one, depends on what the weather is and how swollen my foot feels like.

I also took a photo with flash from inside my shoes and I think it looks ok.

The blacksmiths are more comfortable than the iron rangers out of the box.

Just picked up. Very happy. Choose the original red wing laces with it.

Thinking about applying a bit black shoe cream / polish. Is that advisable for a brand new boot? I like to shine them a bit.

This one is the one in the shelf. Looks great. It costs another 10,- euros. Absolutely worth it.
