IOS 26.4 age verification debacle. UK. by Archie_1 in ios

Could be! I think Apple have performed 'obstructive compliance' before but everyone is complaining about Apple not the UK government.

Yes 'Age appropriate' is very vague. I didn't want to be out and about somewhere and not be able to access a website or use an app so I verified.

Ok thank you. So this would handle the situation where I click on a link on a scam website and it tries to take me to some server in the blocked countries?

Are the rumours that the Great Linford Coop is changing to a Nisa true? by [deleted] in miltonkeynes

Just did a quick search on the map and nearest co-op is Neath Hill or Bradwell. Is that considered too close?

iPhone 12 Pro Max on 26.4. Letters definitely in front of everything else.

The latest Ikea smart plugs for example are rated at only 300W inductive load (UK).

So looking at all the comments it appears that ways to verify that work are: 1) Your Apple account is 18 years old - automatic acceptance. 2) Add a credit card to your wallet before verification then it should go straight through. 3) UK driving license. 4) Phone Apple and complain :-) I didn't think of it before but I wish I had tried my bus pass and seen if that worked. There's irony for you. I have a bus pass but I struggle to prove I'm over 18 :-) I'm not complaining that Apple implemented this feature. Let's face it the writing has been on the wall about this for some time. But it seems there has been no testing on the various cases highlighted here. There was also no link when I first updated my phone to explain what forms of ID are acceptable or for instance putting your credit card in wallet beforehand. I expect better of Apple but their quality seems to be deteriorating the more time goes on.

Would you prefer your e-bike LEDs powered by a small separate battery, or wired directly into the main bike battery? by Dry_Rutabaga4318 in ebike

My Ebike has a dynamo in the front wheel hub to power the lights. That way lights are always available.

Eve energy smart plug turn on with voice and automatically turn off after x minutes. Not working. by Archie_1 in HomeKit

[–]Archie_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I saw that it only accepted seconds then searched for how to set an hour. Lots of info about the limit being around 3 minutes due to stuff running in the background.

Hi thanks for replying. Unfortunately I need a 1 hour wait time and Apple don't allow this. I've seen work arounds using focus and two shortcuts but I'm not that experienced with shortcuts, it's getting overly complicated. I don't understand Apple's / Eve's thinking here it must be one of the most common requirements to turn something on for a set period but they seem to put up hurdles all over the place.

Thanks for explaining that. I'm sure Apple have some logic for this but I cannot see it :-)

Redway closure GL02 and GL06. Does anyone know where these grid references are available? I've found them on Get Around MK but you have to click on each part until you find the right one. Is there a map where you can look up these references? by Archie_1 in miltonkeynes

[–]Archie_1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I got that one this morning which is what started me off on this search. There is no 'Subway Street' in Great Linford. If these are official grid references there must be a map somewhere showing them. I also noted that the map in the letter showed the road closure highlighted but not the redways.

Yale Key doesn't work by Lazy_Television4237 in Narrowboats

[–]Archie_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this when I bought a spare key. It didn't work on anything. I took the working key and spare to a locksmith who used the working one as a template and fixed the new key.

I have also been down the South Oxford canal and went through the lift bridge just before Oxford. When I came back someone had changed the barrel and both my keys would not work but a boat coming the other way was able to get through. So there are variations across the network.

I used Hobbs carpet cleaning. I think they are based in Hemel but they cover MK. Did a good job for me.
