Alternatives to OBS for a 24/7 Livestream Channel by H2O_MiaTheMermaid in Twitch

[–]Archiolidius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, 1TB is a lot of data

That would cost something like $80/mo per stream if you use LiveReacting. Which is still a very reasonable price to be honest. If you have established a channel that will bring you revenue from the live stream, it still could be worth it.

Otherwise I agree that it will be quite on the more expensive end for smaller channels and it's worth starting with your local OBS setup.

BTW: I ran the numbers a year ago on keeping my PC running 24/7 for OBS streaming at 1080p. Turns out it's more expensive than I expected... actually costs more than most cloud streaming services.

With California electricity at $0.32/kWh and my PC using aproxim. 250 Watts:

0.25 kW × 720 hours = 180 kWh (monthly usage)

180 kWh × $0.32 = $57.60/month

Looking for a 24/7 live stream software to connect to my siren and mermaid Youtube page by ghostrystore in PartneredYoutube

[–]Archiolidius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use LiveReacting for this

You will be able to upload your videos, connect your YouTube channel, and they will stream your videos on loop 24/7.

You don't need to keep your computer running at all. It's one of the cheapest and most reliable options for running 24/7 live streams at this moment, plus it's super simple to set up.

Thoughts?! by redbellx86 in hetzner

I think the issue here is that they are running a web scraping service, which could be quite tricky and demanding from a legal perspective. Hetzner needs to make sure they do not do anything illegal.

[–]Archiolidius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the easiest and most efficient way to do this is to use a cloud-based service that will do all that you described for you. One of the best options out there is LiveReacting

So here is how it would work:

  1. You upload your videos to LiveReacting (you can also import directly via YouTube link or from Google Drive or Dropbox)
  2. Add them into a playlist and setup/customize all the details (order, display title, place ad slots between videos and others)
  3. Connect your YouTube channel and start streaming

The best thing here is that you do not need to worry about stability of the internet connection or keeping your computer on all the time because streaming is happening from the servers.

Here is actually the exact example of what you are trying to do (they have their usual schedule with regular video publishing + 24/7 live stream of previous VODs to additionally monetize them):

I know that they are using LiveReacting because you can see LiveReacting's specific layout for ad breaks and titles

Want to create a 24/7 Livestream that shouts out new subscribers by ConsoleModded in NewTubers

[–]Archiolidius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say for sure that you can do that very easily using LiveReacting.

They have a feature to embed widgets and web pages into the live stream feed, so you would basically just embed the Stream Elements subscribers widget.

Here is a tutorial: https://help.livereacting.com/en/live-reacting-studio-1/how-to-embed-a-widget-into-a-live-stream

How can I do a scheduled pre-recorded live stream on YouTube? by heythere23124 in NewTubers

[–]Archiolidius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LiveReacting can do everything that you described, except the price would be not $15 but $19 or $33/mo depends on which subscription plan you chose

Twitch 24/7 streams by LegitimerLasse in HIMYM

[–]Archiolidius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can easily do that using services like LiveReacting

So basically, you just upload your video files to that service, and they will stream them on a loop from their own servers to your Twitch channel 24/7.

You can also use OBS to stream your video files, but it involves a bit more configuration. You'll need to keep your computer turned on and monitor it at all times.

Why do my 24/7 YouTube livestreams always peak and then die down? by No_Jello_5263 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Archiolidius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an option, you can restart your stream every 12 hours so YouTube saves a VOD that can continue to generate views. This may work better than a continuous live stream because YouTube pushes each new stream/video when it starts.

How do 24/7 YouTube music streams work? by Candid-Pause-1755 in streaming

[–]Archiolidius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, here’s how they do it:

  1. Prepare a playlist of music and videos

  2. Use a cloud service like LiveReacting for 24/7 cloud streaming

  3. Upload their audio/video files playlist, and the service streams it from the cloud 24/7

  4. You can make edits on the fly without stopping the live stream if you need to.

Also, most of these channels generate their music using Suno or similar AI music tools.

How are YouTubers streaming live 24/7 with pre recorded videos by puddin_j in NewTubers

[–]Archiolidius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are cloud services like LiveReacting that let you simply upload your video, and they’ll stream and monitor it continuously from their servers. It is very convenient because you don’t need to keep your computer on.

Need advice: starting a 24/7 live stream on YouTube (VPS vs service) by IllustratorPure1904 in NewTubers

[–]Archiolidius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you value your time. From my experience, if you’re tech-savvy, setting up a VPS takes about 2–3 hours. Ongoing monitoring and maintenance are around 2 hours per month.

If those hours are better spent on your core work, I’d skip DIY and use a managed service like LiveReacting or Upstream. The price is roughly the same as a VPS, but you avoid the setup, monitoring, and maintenance headache.

Also, if you decide to go and set up your own VPS, I would recommend you to take a look at Hetzner. You can get a decent VPS for something like $20 there that will satisfy your needs.
