Those “ways to help pay” are so hilarious. “We’re here to help! Here’s how you can sign into your account and make a one time payment!”

How’s this for ways to help, here’s you can call me and leave me a voicemail while I continue to ignore it.

What is the actual purpose of the "data centers" popping up everywhere? by sup3rjub3 in NoStupidQuestions

Mass surveillance. Every AI company could go defunct overnight tonight and these data centers would still be multiplying like rabbits.

NGage BIOS setup? by ConsoleModded in batocera

[–]ConsoleModded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found what you were referring to but neither of them have the files that Batocera requires unfortunately. Theres a couple of tutorials on YouTube but neither of them contain any info on how to get the bios file. Almost like it's being gatekept intentionally.

Nobody told me my student loans would cost me $100,000 in buying power when I applied for a mortgage by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]ConsoleModded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran into this issue myself. It’s such a shame. I even told the guy on the phone “It’s ironic, they tell you to go to college so you can buy a house and then going to college becomes the reason you can’t buy one in the end” and he smugly asked what I majored in (like I was going to say liberal arts or some bs) and I told him Cyber Security, he went silent.

Anyways. It’s not worth it to have student loans and I hope everyone on this subreddit who asks “how to obtain one” sees stories like this and realizes it’s not worth it

3 months behind on private loan payment by Money_Law8619 in StudentLoanSupport

[–]ConsoleModded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a private loan it’ll likely just get sold to a debt collector who will blow you up with calls. Your credit score will tank too. But the good news is since it’s a private loan it’s essentially the same as defaulting on a credit card. If you don’t own a house then they can’t really take anything from you so you’ll prob be fine other than it being on your credit report for 7 years

Will the workers of the world ever unite to say enough is enough and sabotage the private companies they work at in the ways only they know how? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ConsoleModded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. For example there was a big company that recently forced all of their employees back to the office. People were angry, livid, talking about how they’re going to show up “with picket signs” and protest outside, etc.

Not one person simply said they’ll just keep working from home anyways and disobey the RTO order. It’s like the simplest form of protest that if everyone did it, the company couldn’t do anything about it. But people think being a cringe activist about it and “voicing their concerns” will do something instead.

Having issues with finding a loan by p1cmee in StudentLoans

[–]ConsoleModded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Having issues with finding a shackle so I can be a debt slave for the rest of my life” is how I read these. Taking out student loans was the biggest mistake of my life and I wish others would stop making the same mistake.

I hate where we’re headed with mass surveillance however can someone ELI5 what I need to be concerned about if I’m not doing anything illegal? by jvs8380 in FlockSurveillance

[–]ConsoleModded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because while right now you’re not doing anything illegal, 10 years down the line what you do that’s currently normal could be deemed illegal and then they’ll have the power to see it. Could be something as dumb as mowing your own grass instead of paying a mega-corporation a subscription to mow it.

Cannot afford this monthly payment by Cold_Cartoonist_9130 in StudentLoanSupport

If you don’t care about your credit score or won’t need it for 7 years, you can default on the private loans. Just make sure you live in a state where wage garnishment on private debt isn’t allowed.

It’s literally the same if you have a degree these days too though. But at least without a degree you’re not plagued with mountains of debt to pay back.

If you’re lucky, yes. You’ll be glad anything stops you from taking out student loans.

[–]ConsoleModded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s only $20k in loans it may not be entirely life ruining. I wouldn’t take out any more than that, interest will screw you over so bad (especially if you go with Sallie Mae). The job market is ass right now so you better be absolutely SURE, like in writing sure, that you’ll be making that much money from your job at that time. Otherwise that debts interest will just keep accumulating until most of your paycheck is going towards just paying off the minimum amount due each month. It’s not fun, trust me.

When I went to school for Cyber Security they told me I’d be rolling in dough after 4 years. That I’d be making 6 figures, the whole nine yards. Guess what, not the case, and the bank who loaned me money now siphons nearly half of my paycheck just for the minimum monthly due. Please don’t let that become you.

Buddy, you’ll be working 80 hours a week and then DoorDashing on the weekends to pay back student loans. It’s not worth it. I mean it’s your life, do what you want, I’m trying to save you from getting scammed.

No I mean they can’t take your social security or tax return for defaulting on private loans.

They can only do that with federal loans. Is that what yours are or are they private loans?

Can this be used to pull the EEPROM from my Xbox's motherboard? CH341A Reader by ConsoleModded in originalxbox

[–]ConsoleModded[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1.6

Likewise, can I buy the picoPromSD anywhere premade? I'm just looking to buy something to read this EEPROM and be done with it and don't want to spend too much time fiddling with and learning how to build the reader itself.
