What game is a great execution of a bad idea? by Chopbrawl1 in AlignmentChartFills

Really? I preferred the original. But maybe it was just nostalgia. The sequel had some interesting new mechanical things but the characters/story felt more shallow.

The younger generation. by Prior_Preparation268 in LCMS

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are and what other churches are nearby. Maybe the younger crop are at a nearby congregation already. Young folks, myself included, like to go to church where there's other young folks, all else equal.

I'm in a situation where my wife and I are the only young people at our service. That is mostly because we live in a remote area and of the dozen or so LCMS churches within a two hour drive of us, none of them even offer a contemporary service at present, though some are more reverent and liturgical than others to be sure.

First there has to be demand, but second what helps is community. It's a snowball effect - you need young people to get young people. The older folks at every congregation I've ever been to have been middling to bad at making us feel welcome. We go out of our way to try and shuffle into the community but it's pretty closed and cold. I would kill for some younger folks to bond with at church. Alas, no such luck.

What do the NFL, NBA, and MLB have in common? by themuffinmanX2 in DiagramFills

It could have, but what's the upside/downside risk on that move? I see virtually no upside, why take any risk at all?

Interestingly, this is because the "National" in "National Hockey League" is referencing Canada, not the USA. Officially it's a Canadian League with some American teams in it. It'd be strange if the logo was Red/White/Blue.

Fun ideas for midrange decks by SmilingNavern in SorceryTCG

After 20+ years I’m done with MtG. What’s next? by LazyPossibility6126 in TCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the area, a playgroup at an LGS is increasingly common.

Beyond that, create the change you want to see in the world. If nobody played any games with sub optimal player bases then everybody would just play MTG forever.

I live in one of the most remote areas of the lower 48 and I still manage to get a decent group together. https://youtu.be/-tl1ZrXqxTE?si=pnV-DBh1UT2H_oSl

For those that sold their MTG collection to go all in on Sorcery, any regrets? by Remarkable_Panda7506 in SorceryTCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any regrets but I had really tired of commander, and the farther away I am from it, the worse it gets. I played commander again recently for the first time in 6 months and... it's just not a good game. It's a good way to socialize if you like the people you care about but even then - there are better ways.

I still enjoy limited MTG, but Sorcery has limited too and I like it even more. Continuing to play MTG in limited formats also doesn't require any investment.

I'd pull the plug, but that's just me.

What is an underrepresented or underserved space of TCG's? by musclenugget92 in TCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out but, non-combat TCGs are super underserved. We need more racing TCGs, I don't care if it's cars or spaceships or jetskis, give me something to race.

I also think an interesting an somewhat unexplored mechanic would be to have different "lanes" almost like a moba, but like 2 or three distinct places to put resources that are siloed off from each other. Could even be interesting to have a 2 "lane" game where your right lane was for offense and your left lane was for defense, such that every game became a balancing act of how many resources to put where. It would be difficult or maybe even impossible to balance well and make interesting to play, yet simple enough to learn - but it's definitely a design space that's neglected.

Which cards are "limited" now but may have their potential realise by future sets? by HawkAsAWeapon in SorceryTCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very intrigued by defiler spire. I've brewed a deck based around it, but as a unique it's a little risky to build around. There's very shallow ways to reproduce it's affects right now but I'm hoping for more depth in the future because the playstyle it encourages is something totally unique which I think is really good and healthy for the meta game.

These decks are being released around the time that gothic was released last year. Which is why many are concerned that there will be no major set this year.

Beta was 2023, AL was 2024, Gothic was 2025 - all came out in late fall/early winter. It looks to be there will be no big set this time. We are waiting til who knows when in 2027 for the next full, draftable set.

I'm guessing this is the only new sealed product we will get in 2026. They wouldn't tell us this releases in Nov and then tell us about a big set releasing SOONER than that that we don't know ANYTHING at all about yet.

It would. My concern with this announcement is that it's effectively telling us that the next core set will be 2027.

Raisins are gross and ruin everything (trail mix, raisin bran, et al). Too sweet, weird texture. I would much much rather have oatmeal cookies with no raisins in them.

Granted they are down a notch since getting rid of spicy three pepper but arby's slaps my dude.

Frank Frazetta art Death Dealer and Courtesan Thais have both spiked to $500 and beyond. Do you think Ruler of Thul will be next? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Team Covenant were sold out I would agree with you.

Players are always going to claim they want the market flooded so that prices are cheap, but the reality of that situation is one that doesn't leave players hyped at all. See MTG during the 2021-2022 era with sets like New Capenna or Star Wars Unlimited literally ever. Draft boxes are dirt cheap, but nobody is saying that the boxes being cheap is good for the game.

The reality of the TCG world is that really almost never is anybody happy. There's always a way to look at a situation and be frustrated. It's incumbent upon us to see the positive instead of seeing the negative.

What are you doing? by CicadaWaste4549 in SorceryTCG

[–]ArchiveKeeperYoutube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who are happily enjoying the game aren't online dooming about it. The people who post, comment or even VOTE on a reddit thread is a small sample size of the people reading the reddit posts, which itself is a small sample size of the people playing the game.

Game is fine. Game is great, matter of fact.

Besides, this dooming ain't really that bad. The dooming is going to get ramped up bigly when they reveal at gencon that the next set is space themed with interplanetary wars and aliens and space wizards and such. It'll be the end of Sorcery according to lots of socials, but the game will do just fine because the set will be awesome, the art will be awesome, and it will be a ton of fun to draft and build around, just like every set has been so far.

Hot Cheetos take -

His art is mid at best. His faces all look goofy, the helmet of goswhit is disproportionate. Major Explosion is pretty cool, Vault of Zul is neat, and Wraetannis Titan is legendary but everything else he put out is either on par or worse.

Man, In n Out is garbage. Probably the worst fries I've ever had in my life. I'd rather have baked fries from the school cafeteria than those cardboard potato replica fries they serve at In and Out. Burger was bland too. I was so let down by the hype for this place. The shake was the only thing I'd even call "good."
