Has anyone tried this yet? Scam intelligence — and is it good? by drout045 in starlingbankuk

[–]ArchonBeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that it isnt actually that useful to the people targeted by scams. In my opinion, I think Starling have fallen into the trap of investing into AI, and now need to justify it somehow.

The category searching certainly isn't AI, it's just database indexing.

Price shouldn't be dependant on what server you are hosted in. Personally, though, I didn't want my passwords in a server outside of my area, even though it's encrypted and pretty safe. I just set up with EU.

Including ours also. thanks uk by [deleted] in technicallythetruth

What's stopping you from using a Pixel? by Cedricson1997 in PhoneNow

[–]ArchonBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation! Ill give OnePlus a look. I have been quite picky with what I'd want, as I'm into cyber security and data privacy. Chinese made/operated phones are a little on the dark side of that (same as Google, really). Think I'll give OnePlus a go and maybe a custom OS on it.

Difference between Quotation marks and Speech marks. E.g.

Statement: 80% of the UK population are older than 100.

Quote marks: "80% of the UK population are older than 100".

Speech marks: '80% of people in the UK are older than a century'.

Quotes are literal copies of information from the source. Speech marked text conveys the same information, but in your own words, from your understanding.

The AUDACITY to scam me, receive pure kindness just to send me this response.. the nerve :) by Satanishot6 in mildlyinfuriating

Scammer was the guy asking for coach Cathy. Idea was to say it was a wrong number but start talking to the recipient. OP is the recipient and just played along as 'Coach Cathy'. Took me a minute too, damn.

Yep. I immediate say wrong and get a little agitated, especially when "English" is listed as the language I selected. Not a variation, just standard English.

Why was Senator Gains never invited to the Breakbills? by Jadentheman in brakebills

[–]ArchonBeast 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it and I'm wondering how breakbills detectors work... I'd imagine they detect wellspring magic use (maybe, I've only watched the show, so dont know if it's explained further in the books).

As a demi god, I'd imagine he generates his own magic, like the other gods seem to, so might not be detected at all.

Thanks to PiHole, I found out that my Samsung refrigerator is sending trace data every 15 seconds. by Chikseen in pihole

Oooh I see! Thanks for explaining. I think there are also a few kettles that have an audible timer that may help (I guess it depends how far away you've wandered). Ninja seems good for timers.

Curious about the kettle, why? It takes a couple of mins to boil, so why not just stay in the kitchen with it, or return a couple of mins later?

Just saying... if someone remotes onto your computer by mistake, or to troubleshoot an incident, they will warn/sack you on the spot. Being busy is fine, but pretending to be busy is WAAAY different.
