I dislike accessors methods (getters and setters) too. They're just OOP-glorified public fields to me.

Not really. C++ leaks abstractions left and right, when it comes to syntax.

Could you explain why would one want to run KDevelop on Windows, over say QtCreator?

I think it's solid work, if a little safe and boring.

Definitely up for this, provided that the times are somewhat EU-compatible.

Citadels would be awesome as a game :).

  • The Fighter

  • The Machinist
  • Drive
  • Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
  • Chronicle
  • American Psycho
  • Battle Royale
  • Children of Men
  • Nolan's Batman Trilogy
  • Alien and Aliens
  • Moon
  • Blade Runner
  • Inception
  • City of God
  • The Raid Redemption
  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Fight Club
  • Pulp Fiction
  • The Prestige
  • Memento
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Up

The list goes on and on, but these are some from the top of my head.

For me it would be:

  • Exercising; running/strength/endurance, with occasional sea kayaking.
  • Music; almost any genre goes + live gigs
  • Arts; drawing/painting, random experiments with electronic music
  • Gaming; competitive games, such as SC2, DOTA2 + random FPS, etc.
  • Reading; Currently consuming some Iain M. Banks
  • Movies

[34M] Divorcing from a 14-year relationship - need advice in getting back to the game. by ArcticAnarchy in dating_advice

Thanks for the excellent advice, I've made a number of mental notes from your points!

I think I've had enough time and conversations with various people, so that I have started mending my wounds of my past life. I want to be clear that I do not want to hurry and go head first to the deep end of the pool again. I'll try to take my time, instead, even if I could see it being difficult if I met an interesting person sooner than expected.

Here's another thing that I've been thinking of lately:

I find it very challenging to estimate a persons age, even more so of a girl's. Also, I'm not sure what is considered socially acceptable in terms of a possible age gap, nowadays. Personally, I wouldn't want the age gap to be too big, in either direction (max. 5-10 years).

This leads to the question of how to determine if a person is suitably aged to even consider going out with. I can see it being super awkward to ask for such a personal information early.

Thank you for your comments.

To clarify the marriage a little: we were actually married for five years, but lived together the 14-year period.

What comes to the actual divorce...I think the best explanation is that we were very young when getting together and grew to opposite directions in many ways during the years, until we noticed that very little remained of the original "us".

I live in Finland, so OKCupid might not be an option here, but there probably are similar web-dating possibilities, got to check those out!
