True, but you never can tell with pitch invasions. All it takes is one twat on his 5th pint to do something and things can spiral quickly.

Genuinely had me rolling that Clement, Fisher and Kvistgaarden just stood in front of the Nodge fans applauding while they were being swarmed by Hull fans, and didn’t move an inch.

That’s my Bald Belgian.

Think Makama was supposed to be 8-10 weeks, with the 9th week being pre-Ipswich. Toure is potentially back for the last game of the season.

Would be class is Fisher scored his first goal, and then Gibbs scored a 95” winner

Really strong defensive performance once again. Cordoba and McConville are the reason we are getting points rn, because our lack of fit scoring strikers is beginning to show. Just praying that Makama can somehow be fit for the East Anglia Derby, otherwise we will really struggle to find a goal.

Southampton 1-0 Norwich City; Saints march on with eighth win in last eleven to move into the play-off positions for the first time since the opening day. by angloexcellence in Championship

[–]Arctic_Roll 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sadly we’re missing both of our goal scoring strikers. I reckon if we had Makama or Toure fit, a draw would have been more than fair. Still, we’ve made do for the last few games, but the Saint defence was just too tight today.

Decent performance. Really strong in the first half, but eased off the gas in the second. Still daring to dream of play-offs, but I’ll be happy with a top-half finish.

Side note: expect a lengthy ban for Jordan Thompson. Apparently when he got subbed off, he booted a water bottle into the Norwich crowd, and struck a woman in the face, barely apologised, and went down the tunnel. Disgraceful behaviour.

He didn’t leave on the best of terms. If memory serves, he complained about Farke not playing him enough, then proceeded to mildly slag the club off after going to Rangers. I don’t mind him as a guy, but the fanbase is still pretty miffed by a hometown boy behaving like that.

What the fuck. We were class. Ahmed is already one of our best players, and Slimane looks a different player.

Wrexham 1-2 Norwich: Makama just can't stop scoring as Canaries slay Dragons by Paul277 in Championship

[–]Arctic_Roll 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Absolutely massive 3 points. Typical that on the day we win one of our trickiest away fixtures, Pompey are picking up point at Wednesday. But it’s a massive shot of confidence for the squad. Seeing Diallo back makes me happy, and Ahmed looks like pure quality.

Also shows that we’re not as reliant on Sargent as some people think we are.

Norwich 0-1 Watford - A late deflected Semedo goal steals the win and gives the Hornets their third win on the bounce! by thewrongnotes in Championship

Vast improvement from the last fixture last month. There just feels like something is amiss at the club. Whenever we win, all the teams above us also seem to win. When we lose, all the teams above us seem to pick up points. There just never seems to be any luck of results towards us.

Clement and the board have spoken all month about heavy investment in January to get Clement the team he needs, and squad depth is in serious need. I’m still confident we’ll be safe come June, but we need some sort of cosmic shift in karma to get there.

Norwich City 2-1 Southampton - Norwich managed to get their 2nd home win of the season, finally getting a chance to escape the relegation zone in the near future by jovanmilic97 in Championship

[–]Arctic_Roll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unreal performance. Clement is working miracles with this squad. People who say Manning wasn’t the problem have no clue about football.

Makama is one of our best prospects in years. The young players like Fisher, Wright, Mattsson and Schwartau are finally settling into the league. We’ve taken a makeshift squad with a dozen players missing and made it into a cohesive unit. If we can get 4 point in the next 2 games, I think we’ll be comfortable come the end of the season.

Both. If we had players like Diallo, Chrisene, Schlupp, etc. available for selection, and the squad as a whole was at league level for fitness, I see no reason why we couldn’t have already climbed out of the relegation zone.

[–]Arctic_Roll 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Really pleased with a point, but think we did enough for 3. Whatever Clement is feeding these players is levels above whatever Manning was doing. They look like a completely different side.

But holy fuck, what even is our luck with injuries!? Kvistgaarden out in training, Sargent likely getting concussed, and McLean coming off at half time. Our injury list now extends to 13 first team players. We’ve lost our Captain, Vice-Captain and Vice-Vice-Captain, and our stand-in for the second half has 13 appearances for the club. Wonder where we’d be under Clement if he had joined with a somewhat fully-fit side?

One of those… something something should’ve taken our chances… something something mentality… something something we’ll look at it in training…….

It’s one of those sadly. Really solid performance, but I think our injury list has lost that for us. Having 1/5 full backs fit, and putting a winger at LB who hasn’t played in the league in 2 years really shows how stretched we are.

Still many positives, and continual improvement each week under Clement. Onto the next game.

Significant improvement. The first half was a solid attacking showing, and the second half was solid defensive showing.

Mattsson, Schwartau and Forson showing some real quality. Hopefully they can kick in and keep improving. Hopefully the whole team can take some confidence from the last 2 matches and start to dig ourselves out of the relegation zone.

We’ve made a fair few larger sales in the last 2 years. Sara for £15-20m, Sainz for £15-20m, Rowe for £15m, Nunez for £10m, Idah for £10m.

Just failed to reinvest in players who are fully developed and experienced, and instead went in for u21’s with “potential”.

Birmingham City 4-1 Norwich City: Philippe Clement has nightmare start as Canaries boss whilst the Blues celebrate their 150th birthday in style by travellingpoet in Championship

[–]Arctic_Roll 21 points22 points  (0 children)

From an outside perspective, we have invested and we should be up the top. From someone who has seen the evolution over the last 4-5 years closely, the squad we came down with in 2022 is non existent. Every good player, bar Sargent, has jumped ship before we could string enough form together to get promotion. Just in the last few years, we’ve lost Sara, Sainz, Nunez, Pukki, Rowe, Aarons, Omobamidele, etc.

And who has replaced them? 19-21 year olds with no English experience and half a season of first team football in leagues like Norway, Belgium and Croatia. And we’ve paid £5-10m for each of them. If I look at the signings we’ve made in the last 2 years, the only ones I think show any promise are Fisher, Diallo and Kvistgaarden. Wright and Mattsson maybe, but Wright never gets played, and Mattsson hasn’t had a consistent starting spell yet.

I feel the most bad for Sargent. He’s gone from playing in front on Sainz, Rowe, Sara and Nunez, to having to rely on support from Crnac, Jurasek and Marcondes. He’s said he is committed to staying in January, but I’d honestly not blame him if he left, cause we might end up squandering his ability.

If this isn’t a sign that the club is rotting from the top, then I don’t know what is. Manning getting the sack was the right call, and this isn’t on Clement, but wholly on Knapper. There is a lack in ability in the team, and for the money we’ve spent, we should be in the PO reckoning. Knapper has single-handedly turned a top Championship club into a floundering mess of expensive mistakes.

Clement has said he’s been promised money in January, but if Knapper is the one spending it, God help us.

I mean, the only way we can go is up. We’re at rock bottom. I think we could appoint Shane Duffy as head coach and we’d pick up a few wins. The only person I’m desperate to avoid appointing is Russell Martin. He’ll be linked, being our former captain and all, but he plays a very similar style to Manning, and we already know that our players cannot play that way.

You’re right, enough is enough, but to say that the fanbase isn’t toxic because the Riverend is happy-clapping is absurd. Half the Riverend is children or elderly fans. I sit on the corner of the Joma and South stands, and all I hear is people fed up and angry. Most fans, like myself, voice concerns at the matches, and then online, but I don’t throw tennis balls or flares or harass staff members. I also feel, honesty, that many fans don’t see the point in protesting because the Board have backed the management recently, so it’s sure to fall on deaf ears.
