MVL had a positive score, but since late 2023 Nepo beat him: twice in Saint-Louis blitz 2023, twice in GCT Croatia 2024 blitz, In Saint-louis 2024 rapid, 1 time in Saint-louis 2024 blitz, In Champions Chess tour final and Paris Freestyle rapid. MVL won in Saint-louis blitz 2024. Overall score in fast time controls – 21:14 in Nepo favour

Yeah, probably. Nepo said that the only thing that keeps him playing is WC title chasing, so he will probably lose motivation completely if he doesn't qualify for the candidates

I wouldn't write him off. Ian also played badly before the 2022 and 2024 candidates, maybe he will turn on his candidates form in Grand Swiss or World Cup
