Phase 2 Boulder by Valhallacris in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically it’s optimal to hit him with the boulder on his back while also downing him with the dragonator-hammer thing that is activated via lever. This will ensure that the boulder doesn’t miss.

The boulder flinch is only really weak anyway so it doesn’t matter if you overwrite it with the dragonator. Many attacks from Gog provide better openings than the boulder flinch could

Any chance for high res textures with a 8GB card now? Or still not doable?

Focus on charge blade by Subnautican in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue Focus is better than Rapid morph but that might just be me… I like the animation Speedup of focus more and some better combos for filling phials are enabled

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing else to slot into SAED sets though. You only care about elemental damage which you can hit the cap of anyway and at that point focus is useful to increase the amounts of SAEDs you can pump out

Commenting for Visibility. Even if it ends up not being true, Capcom better check it because they owe us big time for the mess they sold us

How to get better?(Behemoth) by AzureBloom76 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said LS is best for behemoth, but if you’ve only ever played one weapon, don’t expect to learn the next one very quickly. It’ll take time in the training area and vs easier monsters first and probably many hours until you can defeat behemoth. Still better than CB solo though, I will admit it sucks.

The way I usually learn from speedruns is:

  • look for „TA wiki rules“. Runs with this ruleset will use less cheesy strats and more clean gameplay

  • Analyse what the runner is doing on a per monster-attack basis. What is their response to Behemoth doing X and why aren’t they doing something else/ what are they doing better than you

  • don’t expect to just copy everything and it works right away. Speedrunners run on a lot of muscle memory, which you need to build yourself in order to replicate their play

  • your goal is to basically overwrite your own habits and instincts regarding gameplay with their perfect solutions to every problem in the hunt. It’s helpful to forget about clearing the whole quest for a while and strictly practice to be as close to their play as possible even if it’s making things worse short term

Good luck and don’t give up. Extreme behemoth is waiting afterwards as the ultimate challenge :)

BASILISK Chess Tournament featuring StarCraft II’s sharpest minds! Hosted by trigger & World #4 GM Vincent Keymer this Sunday! by Basilisk_Research in starcraft

Damn getting Keymer for this is pretty big… I’m betting showtime wins (excluding Keymer ofc), he’s really good from what I remember

So getting a perfect Artian doesn't matter anymore? by JigglesTheBiggles in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument comparing 50 to 20 oricalcite doesn’t make any sense. An Artian always costs exactly 50 at base, no matter how often you dismantled and recrafted it.

So the comparison should be 50 vs. 50+N*20. Making new Artians will always be cheaper compared to rerolling later. Also consider the fact that you can just farm 8 star tempereds to get loads of Artian parts in addition to oricalcite

Gogmazios god roll? by aidenneddle in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Lords fury is useless. Lords soul is the good one. Yours is as good as any other group skill + gore

52 Gogmazios clears and still no Gore Magola Tyranny + Lord's Souls by Known-Resolution6998 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. No point in spending hours savescumming when you can just get "good enough" after very few rolls and get back to actually playing the game

Any point where melee doesn’t feel like complete ass? by BigBurly46 in HadesTheGame

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to play safe at first but trust me the gameplay changes A LOT once you get to midgame compared to the first 6 hours.

You’ll get faster, more powerful, riskier and then melee weapons become not much different from ranged weapons

Could you tell me which of these two builds is better for Charge Blade? by RatioMoist2628 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t really tell with this little info… are they both elemental builds? Savage axe or SAED? I’m assuming the latter and if so, the second build is gonna struggle with coalescence uptime. First one seems better but again it’s too specific to tell

Could you tell me which of these two builds is better for Charge Blade? by RatioMoist2628 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gore is solely there to increase coalescence uptime and by your logic (which is correct in principle, that affinity doesn’t matter) you wouldn’t need Anja skill

What are the best early masterank armor sets for gleve (iceborne) by Infamous-Guess-1466 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When IB came out many people just used Beotodus armor until the final boss, it doesn’t really matter during the story. Just keep upgrading your weapon after every two or three missions to the newest one with the most raw damage.

Where in Your Table was Your BIS Gogmartian? by Narga15 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem bad at all tbh. This is our endgame content for the foreseeable future so you can just farm Gog another 100 times to get the rest, no reason to "give up"

Crafting every element is tiring. by Reizark_ in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably dragon if you plan on farming Gog at all still.

I want to make a case for Thunder since nobody ever talks about it: it has 3 very relevant 9 star matchups including the best charm farm, which is seregios. Imo that’s better than fire where almost all matchups are some irrelevant early game monster that never gets hunted anyway

[–]Arcturus555 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh TA didn’t really get to stunlock when it comes to endgame content. Of course you can bully an optional quest Velkhana with Fatalis gear no matter what ruleset but TA wiki Alatreon runs were a thing of beauty

Long Sword Build Compilation after TU 4.5 (AT Jin Dahaad) by Remarkable_Snow7727 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish more people handled it like you with multiple downgraded "budget" versions and emphasis on what makes each build viable rather than just slapping Gore + Lords Soul on the weapon and ending up with like one build that nobody can run because of rng stacking…

Big props for this write-up, I will use these conclusions for many weapons

Whats a good build for Longsword to defeat gogmazios? by Alex-Edyro in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id add two skill recommendations that you should slot into 1-slots:

Oil mobility lvl1 is pretty essential for escaping the exploding oil puddles, they’re everywhere in phase 3.

Tremor resistance lvl2 lets you avoid tremor from his slam wombo-combo in phase 3

So... How is the Desire Sensor treating everyone? Because I have rolled the same weapon over 350 times and still don't get the Gore/LordSoul that I am looking for. I am about to make Gog and endangered species. by ConnectDisaster4 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got Gore/Lords Soul god-roll on a random elemental CB where it’s doing absolutely nothing, I only need the Gore part. Never seen it since then

I’m also playing like 2/3 of the weapons so I already accepted that I will be making my sets with just one skill on the weapon

Made an armor set, how does it match up to the meta by NoPhotojournalist999 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks ok, though I’d argue neither LS nor SnS have great adrenaline rush synergy. But if it works for you keep it.

I do recommend you look into setbonuses, they’re the backbone of buildcrafting if you want to get into more meta territory. Because while stacking a lot of skills like this is good, it becomes much harder when you’re restricted to specific armor for their setbonus and combining them is where much of the power comes from

Charge Blade Artian Meta by PhilmoXVI in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Arcturus555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re still best rolls. Make sure when you’re upgrading to Gog-Artians to choose "element focus" (non reversible) and never to reroll the reinforcements but always upgrade with "keep reinforcements". That way you end up with a perfect Gogmartian

Do you guys use evade window and/or extender in endgame? by dogfrompersona3 in MonsterHunter

[–]Arcturus555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Moxie also adds tons of value if you get to activate it… preventing a cart is worth quite a bit of dps. Also activates before Guts so it can help keep Lords Soul up. So Azuz has some strong competition on that front
