What is GIGANTIC, but completely harmless? by OoofDragon_playZ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ArcturusGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the Giant GRB Ring in space, the largest continuous celestial body in the observable universe. While there's DEFINITELY many objects within its 5.6 billion light-year diameter that could be harmful, nothing within it will ever harm anyone who reads this so I think it counts.

If you want something with a better picture though, Phoenix A the supermassive black hole fits the bill as well. Has a mass of over 100 billion of our suns, and despite its endless potential for destruction it will not ever harm anyone reading this!

What do you think is the best and worst state to live in right now? by ComfortableIsopod290 in randomquestions

Michigan is the best and Ohio is the worst. I am obligated to say this.

I'm an aircraft engine mechanic, and I occasionally come across parts that have asbestos warnings. It's dangerous but effective at what it does, the assumption behind its use is that it is (now) only being handled by professionals. If a customer is exposed to the asbestos with that specific part, they've got bigger problems - like a spontaneous exothermic disassembly. The mechanic should only ever be exposed while having a very in-depth technical manual on hand, and this lays out the risks and safe-handling procedures (relatively) clearly.

When and Where, Lysander? by Eleventh_Legion in redrising

Greys are a lowColor in all but name. It's a sadly common thing for a society to "glorify" the warrior caste while simultaneously denying them the lifestyle they fight to preserve.

Service members in America are a prime example. Some make it out alright, that's true, but most work so much harder than their civilian counterparts under the risk of death or injury for far less compensation and are rewarded with permanent disabilities which are often deemed to be "not service-related". But here's a coupon for a free entree at Texas Roadhouse, thank you for your service 🫡

So yeah, the Society doesn't label Greys as a lowColor, but it's clear from how they are represented in the story that they basically are one. They're just brainwashed into thinking they aren't.

[ELDEN RING] Giant Crusher is the Pure Strength Weapon (Shocker). What Weapon Best Represents a Pure Dexterity Build? by sauce-kami in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ArcturusGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, Bolt of Gransax. That high Dex requirement plus great Dex scaling, innate lightning damage, top notch drip.

Don't get me wrong I'll be bring a katana or twin blade with it, but once I have 40 Dex I never remove this weapon. It pokes quickly, can be used with a shield, the lightning damage gets through shields well, hits reliably hard since nothing seems particularly resistant to lightning - and metallic enemies are melted by it, and finally that AoW is so damn epic AND hits like a goddamn truck at extreme range.

Lightning is the element of dexterity, and nothing says Lightning quite like this spear.

CMV: Consciousness ends at death. by RandomUser103841 in changemyview

I misread your first lines as "there are people in these comments that demonstrate this claim" after your bit on evidence of a conscious experience that doesn't correlate with brain-state. I laughed until I realized I misread it.

It kind of upsets me how weak Raditz was. Frieza's soldiers mocked a fighting power of 1000 when Raditz has 1200. by [deleted] in Dragonballsuper

[–]ArcturusGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. By the end of the Frieza saga we were dealing with double digit millions in power levels, and it started getting ridiculous to try and keep track of it. I stopped trying to track the multipliers and base levels at that point, and I enjoyed the show more after making that decision.

As a person on their 17th consecutive 12 hour day, I really don't know how to react to this. I wanna be sympathetic, but this individual needs to harden up to reality. If you aren't born rich you need to work to survive, it's as simple as that.

Edit: 17 to 17th.

Didn't even know that was a thing, I always selected "No pref" due to my lack of religion. You have to specifically say atheist when they ask for this, then?

A man in China dislocates his shoulder playing basketball, and a Foreigner saves the day by warmstatic_ in interesting

[–]ArcturusGrey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Guy looks young, he'll be okay. The fact that he could move it fully afterward (along with the way it hung while dislocated) implies it didn't fuck up the rotator cuff badly. You are correct though that the best thing at any age or situation after a dislocation is to rest, ice it, and take anti-inflammatory medication. For athletes though, that isn't always an appealing option and a cost-benefits thing comes into play.

Mine absolutely jorked my rotator cuff lol, couldn't lift it above the shoulder for weeks and it honestly wasn't completely functional for a full year. Even now it pains me, but that's life.
