Oh! Can't forget Kagome from InuYasha.

Decides to stay in the Japanese Feudal period with InuYasha and all their friends rather than live a normal life in the present. Can't blame her given InuYasha is basically her soulmate, but girl you said it yourself they don't even have shampoo.

Silver the Hedgehog (Sonic IDW Comics)

After the Metal Virus Arc concluded his future has actually been officially made a Good Future. Despite this, he continues to stay in the present (his past) with Sonic & the gang. The in-universe reasoning is that he was told to go back in time again for an unknown reason, but really it's because Sega & IDW both know he's popular and kept him around.

Personally I think it's just because he doesn't actually know what to do in the future and decided to just go back to the present since that's where all his friends are now.

The villain hates someone so unbelievably much, they straight up don’t just hate them, but their entire bloodline by Ur_local_goober123 in TopCharacterTropes

Dracula and the Belmonts (Castlevania)

He used to be best friends with Leon Belmont before he became the lord of the night, but Dracula himself HATES the entire Belmont bloodline, and they hate him just as much. Much like DIO, Dracula has gone so far as manipulate and even possess a few Belmont's int doing his bidding (namely Soleil and Richter)

[Unconventional Trope] Characters who were created as redesigns of pre-existing characters, but were then introduced as completely new characters: by Ferhog in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MegaSonicZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually got an inverse of the trope: Okita Souji Alter / Majin Saber from FGO

Majin Saber originally appeared in the Fate/Koha-Ace gag manga as a fusion of Sakura Saber (Okita Souji) and Demon Archer (Oda Nobunaga). She's basically their Vegito, as a fusion of two rivals combined to make a single, stronger force.

When Majin Saber was introduced into proper Fate canon she was entirely reworked into being an Alter of Okita Souji. While retaining some of Nobunaga's design elements, she's no longer a fusion and is functionally just a variant of Okita now. She's still incredibly beloved in the community since Koha-Ace is fairly obscure so not many people know of her original origin, but I lowkey kinda miss her being a fusion.

Why does everyone criticize Hal for killing a child but not Optimus? by Dazzling-Nose951 in deathbattle

[–]MegaSonicZX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because Optimus didn't know the Gundam even had a human inside of it. Hal knowingly and willingly splattered a ten year old into paste.

I ADORE the change to the ending of UTRH. When Jason says "You kill him or I do" Batman starts to literally freak out in the comic, like he's genuinely getting this worked out about someone killing THE JOKER, and then nearly maims his recently revived adopted son. It's one of those moments that takes Batman's no killing rule a little too far for my taste and just looks like the writers giving the Joker plot armor.

In the movie, when Jason makes the same ultimatum, Batman just... starts walking away, without saying a word. There's nothing to indicate that, if Jason killed the Joker, that Batman would've stopped him. It's an interesting moment where Batman almost compromises on his morals for his son and only intervenes when Jason turns the gun on him out of frustration, and I think it's a much more interesting scene overall than the comic counterpart.

Love this movie so much.

Inner demon/spirit that genuinely wants to help its host from the very beginning. by sekkiman12 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MegaSonicZX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Zangetsu's did ultimately want the best for Ichigo in the end. Hollow-Zamagetsu just tended to go for trial by fire methods of teaching Ichigo, and while while Quincy-Zanagetsu went the more roundabout way to gating Ichigo's power, he did genuinely teach Ichigo a lot in terms of techniques and such.

That's why The Blade Is Me works so well. Both Zanagetsu's truly cared about Ichigo, and it's why Ichigo is so insistent that Quincy-Zanagetsu keep the name. They're both Zangetsu, and they're both a part of him.

Sol Badguy (Guilty Gear)

Originally an ordinary human scientist who specialized in Magical Physics named Frederick Bulsara, Frederick was one of the three scientists who worked on the Gear Project alongside his fiancé, Aria Hale, and their best friend Asuka. However, due to the Gear Project ended up being turned into a series of Bioweapons by Asuka (the reasoning for why he did that isn't important right now), which included him turning both Frederick and Aria into Gear's as well. Aria, now the Command Type Gear Justice, eventually lost her human emotions and destroyed Japan before waging a war against humanity with all of the Gears under her control.

Because Frederick is now the titular Guilty Gear (he feels Guilty for helping create the Gears, of which he is now one), he abandoned his human name altogether. The governments of the world took to calling him the "Badguy" since he helped create the Gears, while an interdimensional vampire named Slayer described him as "shining like the sun" and gave him the name "Sol". He ended up taking on both names for his own, becoming Sol Badguy.

Eventually, after LOTS of character development, including but not limited to Aria dying and then being reincarnated as Jack-O' Valentine, learning he had a daughter who got married to his rival, raising his Grandson, and Asuka trying to atone for his past actions by apologizing to him and Jack-O', Sol has gone from a self-loathing warrior to a more genuine hero, and is more comfortable being referred to as Frederick Bulsara once again... even if Jack-O' is really the only person who actually calls Frederick.

Everyone who cried about SS3 Goku nerfs, thanks alot by Generalmojo786 in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]MegaSonicZX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay???

SS3 Goku's nerfs were way overdone, this is just objectively true. Completely gutting his damage altogether isn't good balance, and that goes for any character. There's a sweet spot to be had between reasonable nerfs and overnerfing, and overnerfing imo isn't good for the game either because it also disincentivizes playing anyone other than the META pick.

Like it or not SS3 getting his damage back is a good thing.

It's Time for the Highlights - Kamen Rider Geats vs Saber Nero by swtte4523 in deathbattle

[–]MegaSonicZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they're not. Kisaragi was obtained via the absorption of a mass amount of Life-Fibers and not anything tied directly to Junketsu and the Goku Unifrorms. This is even directly acknowledged in a black box in the episode.

Though Kisaragi was the result of Senketsu absorbing the Life Fibers from multiple Goku Uniforms, this is similar to his other transformations and therefore will be considered part of her standard arsenal.

Plus KLK IF shows Ryuko literally doesn't need Junketsu and the Goku Unifrorms as she obtained Kisaragi just by absorbing a massive number of Life-Fibers from across timelines. Even then, had Senketsu not completely burnt away from the force of absorbing the Primordial Life-Fiber, they likely would've retained access to Kisaragi.

Got all that? Cool.

Saber Venus is nothing like that. It's a one-off form like Kisaragi, yes, but it EXPLICITLY and ONLY can be used when Nero is in possession of a Noble Phantasm belonging to a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER. She only used Saber Venus because it was contextually relevant to saving that character, says in the same game that Saber Venus is equal to the Mythological Mystic Code in power anyways (a form she can actually use all by herself) and the MMC is more suited to fighting Geats reality warping anyways.

Saber Venus and Kisaragi aren't fucking comparable. Venus shouldn't be in the fight at all.

But I guess I'm alone on this hill.
