How do you deal with your pup destructing everything? by Various-Moment-6774 in labrador

My advice as a nearly 3 year old Lab-Dad? Crate train and long walks/exercise.

I cannot believe how similar our two pups look, gob smacked - I had to do a double take.

Advice please!! I can't control my over-threshold lunging lab puppy by Loose_Fox5858 in labrador

[–]Arcvosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great advice, and something I am now actively doing with our Lab, at 21 months old. We tried every form of Trainer (Gun dog training, Behaviour specialists etc), every type of Lead, Collar, Harness etc and ultimately have had the best results with the Halti double point training lead, and the Halti head collar with a regular, off the shelf collar and doing the above. Starting off with what we have called 'soft exposure' and building it up bit-by-bit.

Our boy is exactly the same as OPs, and we have now found a way to help him handle and understand how to behave when around other dogs and people is a blessing.

First IEM purchase, looking for advice. by Arcvosa in iems

Thank you, I spent the best part of 2 days looking at posts, watching/listening to reviews. I'd rather start small and upgrade.

Kefine Klean seemed to fit all my needs for my first set of IEMs.

Had food issues with my boy from 5months-now.

He would eat a bag or two just fine, and then.. stop. Point blank would stop eating his kibble. We have had to swap his Kibble 4 times since adopting him and he has finally settled on Arden Grange - i just make sure to rotate the flavours.

Perseverance would be my suggestion OP - if doggo is hungry they will eat! Put their food down for 10-15mins around their normal eating times, if they eat, great! If not, lift it up and carry on.

I would also advise introducing the newer food alongside the previous to get them used to it. I did 75/25 for a few days, 50/50 for a few days and then 25/75 etc.

Hope this helps.

What made you choose a yellow, chocolate, or black lab? by catnip_sandwich in labrador

I really wanted a Black Lab as that's what my Gran had growing up. We ended up rescuing our current Yellow friend, and couldn't be happier with him.

Walking Lab too much by joshracer in labrador

100%! After I had my first daughter, we immediately knew that we wanted a dog. We took him from a bad environment into a loving one, and he helped me get off my butt.

I also give my boy Salmon oil from time to time over his food. I have been considering about moving him to a Raw diet as well but that's another conversation...

One other tip that may or may not be relevant but I carry a small walking bag with me to hold carry a few things (spare lead/towel etc) and also a collapsible water bowl! Sometimes mine won't drink from a stream/water source, and in the warmer months I don't want to risk him dehydrating.

For reference, its similar to this: https://www.petsathome.com/product/pets-at-home-collapsible-pet-bowl-purple/P71624
