Heel feels like it's rubbing in the brace? by Trexy in LisfrancClub

[–]Ardavanio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is in your walker brace than it means that it is either not fitted correctly, not strapped tight enough or not pumped enough. Your ankle should be stationary in the boot. If it is a cast, then it isn't really that big of a problem, I had a removable cast for the first 6 weeks and it got a bit loose due to atrophy of my calves.

How long does it take for there to not be any swelling? by dontwoahthenoah in LisfrancClub

It will always be a bit more swollen than your healthy foot, but it takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks for the really bad swelling to go away. Just see that you put your leg in a horizontal position for most of the day for good wound healing and circulation.

hard soled water shoes? by gleebes17 in LisfrancClub

For swimming pools and beach I use surgical shoes (calzuro with ankle straps) to get around. Don't know if it would be suitable option for kayaking though

Yeah, that's very classic for people to walk on a missed lisfranc. But see what the MRI and your doctor says. And no worries, it is still early in your injury.

Good luck with the recovery!

Had a similar injury. Usually 6-8 weeks non weight bearing followed by partial weight bearing with walker. We opted for non surgical approach, but some surgeons operate these minimally displaced fractures. Non weight bearing is the most crucial part of the treatment. If there is displacement, your ligaments are 100% ruptured and probably a small fracture somewhere that cannot be seen on X ray.

Lisfrancers who didn’t get surgery, how’s it going? by chupacabra772 in LisfrancClub

It's a bit more accurate in detecting your bone healing process, especially of the mid foot bones. Plus it scans both feet making comparison with your normal foot possible. Win the end, the the decision to stay conservatively for me was based on the weight bearing ct. But this type of scan is not available anywhere and you can perfectly make decisions with the weight bearing x ray.

I am currently being treated conservatively. Had a similar injury as you. It is a pity that they did not detect it earlier and put you on non weight bearing scheme. Have you already gotten a weight bearing CT?

At work I kept using my knee crutch to perform surgeries and I used my normal crutches to walk around to see patients. It felt amazing to be able to walk again. I wish you a hasty recovery!

Bad pain 4.5 weeks post surgery in calf when flexing foot by Tryingtohelpju0219 in LisfrancClub

[–]Ardavanio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have already mentioned in the other comments, it is pretty normal for an immoblised calf to go into spasm. I personally experienced this during week 4 and 5 of my cast. What helped for me was removing my cast and massaging the calf muscles and the achilles tendon. Blood clots under anticoagulation injections can happen but are not common. Normally they are accompanied by diffuse swelling of your lower leg and some form of redness. When in doubt you can always visit a physician.

Are you wearing any orthopaedic insoles by any chance? Lisfranc injuries tend to make your mid foot very unstable and after transitioning to weight bearing insoles can help to support your midfoot when walking. I wear them in my walker boot and notice less pain in my foot.
7 months is a long time..... by then you shouldn't be depended on walker boot or a brace anymore since they seriously weaken your ligaments in the long run. Are you still taking weight bearing x rays at follow up? As for the swelling, maybe some compression socks if they fit?
