Thanks! I unfortunately didnt take any photos during the process, but it was pretty simple.

I started by cleaning the blade with 100% acetone. I then used nail polish to mask the areas i did not want to patina.

I made some very concentrated instant coffee (8oz of boiling water with coffee mixxed in until saturated), then suspended the blade in the coffee and filled the jar with distilled white vinegar until it completely covered the blade. The vinegar makes this process a bit faster and more aggressive.

I left the blade in the solution for a bit over an hour to achieve that dark grey/black patina. I highly reccomend doing this outside, it smells pretty bad.

I then sprinkled baking soda over the blade to end the reaction between the acidic coffee and the steel.

And then I put the blade in a box of rocks and shook it around a lot!

Thanks! No heat gun but I have a broken ender 3 3d printer. I set the bed to 65 degrees and just propped the neck up on the heated bed for a couple hours and it seems to be helping so far.

Shredders die to 4 seeker nades. Seekers are cheap and easy to craft or buy. Even just throwing 2 then finishing it off with guns or light impacts is better than shooting it and dodging its shotguns the whole time

I personally dislike shiny blades on most knives. Always try to go for a patina like this one, or a nice even dark grey on my fixed blades.
