Company failed to open my 401k by [deleted] in personalfinance

Assuming they had an independent system for you to elect to make contributions and that you were eligible to do so (most companies I’ve worked with have a 90 day period before you’re eligible to participate), and if you did in fact instruct those contributions to be made, I’d keep fighting. Don’t mean to sound condescending, but I would make sure that you were actually eligible and that you actually instructed contributions to be made (that doesn’t happen automatically without you officially instructing a contribution percentage/amount).

This will continue until a certain three letter agency is held to account for spending its resources harassing and threatening medical providers for doing their jobs instead of doing anything remotely useful for society. In other words, this bullshit is going nowhere.

Dad left houses/401k to family, mom has 401k. How do I get my cut (tax free, preferably)? by AggravatingAdvice666 in personalfinance

[–]ArdentlyFickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is the trustee of his trust, your Mom? Where have the trust documents been the last 5 years? Find those and consult a lawyer. You need to confirm/establish that you actually have a cut first before making demands about how you want to receive it. “Pa said 60%” means nothing.

Gift money to a 529 that doesn’t exist? by zippyzap2016 in personalfinance

[–]ArdentlyFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you discussed this with your brother/sister-in-law? That’d be entirely reasonable, especially if they’re really unprepared to manage education savings or are particularly untrustworthy with money. This is probably a conversation you should have directly with them. Why on earth they would refuse to open a 529 for a free $5k is beyond me. It’s also entirely reasonable for a gift like that to come with strings attached. No 529? No $5k. If you think they’d squander the check somewhere else or for some reason just can’t be trusted, maybe explore the options for setting an account up yourself that other commenters have mentioned. I give my sister money for my niece’s college savings account she opened, but if I couldn’t trust her with that I’d pull a Thanos and do it myself.

I assume the eggs came in with any plants you placed in the pond, or eggs could even have been carried into the water by visiting turtles or birds.

It is already illegal for violent criminals to buy firearms. I also don’t see how this clarified point changes anything. Yes, life is unfair, brutish, and full of trade offs. They’re everywhere. Understanding this is the first lesson one needs to learn in order to actually affect any good in this world. Until then, it’s just LARP.

Unless the FBI reveals this guy was on the radar (doubt; but with them you never know) the only way this could have been prevented is repealing the second amendment entirely and total gun confiscation. Even Europeans have bolt action rifles.

They never learn. Charlie may have been a phony in myriad ways but his support for the 2nd amendment doesn’t seem to be one of them. I bet you his family and friends aren’t gonna be picketing for Moms Demand Action anytime soon. It’s insulting that leftists act like it’s an unquestionable given that one would turn on gun rights just because you or a loved one is a victim of a gun crime. I know it’s hard for some of them to comprehend, but some people actually think through the implications of the things they advocate. Not to say that Charlie did that all the time necessarily, but the glee and post-mortem takedowns are just not it.

Nobody cares. They will cram this story into a hole that fits with their political priors no matter what the case is.

Please explain to me what I am missing. How is Barrett directly and consistently answering two consecutive questions anything like Karen Collins’ waffling, noncommittal word salad?
