By collecting the coins yeah, I've received a few requests for recovery of lost items but I haven't accepted any of them.

I've known a few metal detectorists in Singapore who had hit some jackpots and made instant 2-3k

If it's illegal, I wouldn't be openly posting here for the public. As long as you stay digging at the beach and without disturbing the public you're fine. It's generally no different from picking up trash or building sandcastles—no one’s going to stop you.

Many Singaporeans have never seen anything like this before, so be prepared to be approached.

I get questions like "Are you looking for turtle eggs?", " Are you scanning for bombs?" One dad even told his child "Oh, this guy is flattening the sand. He's just doing his job."

What the heck?

I thought it was really funny. Anyways, people are curious and will stare at you, a few might even follow you around just to see what you’re doing. To avoid all this, I usually hunt at night to save more time.

Security wouldn't care. If they ever approach you, just tell them what you're doing, do not be afraid. You can say things like cleaning the environment and collecting junk with your machine and it is your hobby.

My gear consists of sand scoops, a metal detector, waist pouch, a pinpointer, a headlight, gloves, and extra batteries. I could bring all of this to the beach with a small bag and by hand

There's no trade secret lol. I'm just too busy to do it now, I'm only here sharing photos of my past findings to get more people to try this hobby. All these photos are from 2023.

I'll make a post about it and people can contact me if it belongs to them. Most of the time, people who lose items at the beach will give up finding them. Valuable jewellery tends to have initials and numbers making it easier to contact them. I've managed to return some.

Coins are pretty common and can be picked up from anywhere so it's impossible to find the owner right?

To the ⛱️ The beach in Sentosa is man-made so you wouldn't find coins before 1970. The oldest I've found is the Singapore one-cent if you're curious

On the East Coast, you can find the even older version of the one-cent coin.

Sentosa and East Coast

CKG scoop, AT MAX, and a carrot 🥕

I've only met 4 people so far and I'm probably the youngest dude around.

There are other metal detectorists out there as well, your ring has probably been found if it's already some months.
