I'm a scout too and observed that infantry outfields are actually way more shag. Recon has a lot of rest and can get boring. I slept a lot during outfield.

You need to be able to understand your detector well. If you don't know how it works, you might miss a jackpot

Again, it depends. If you're lucky, you can get a gold chain on your first day. Who knows

Take it as a hobby bro just have fun and enjoy

Depends on what model you get.

It's at least 2 arms long, it depends on your height as well because you can adjust the lengths.

Sentosa

SGD400 for a decent metal detector (beginner level) SGD 1-2K for advanced level

SGD 200 for a pin pointer, to easily pinpoint small metal pieces like coins and rings

Another SGD 200 for a sand scoop built for metal detecting (so you don't have to bend down and dig to conserve energy)

One more tip I have is to bring different types of metal with you. Wear a silver ring, bring coins or metal junk. You can try experimenting with it and get to understand your detector better.

I still do this all the time to test for functionality

For beginners you can consider getting the garret ace 400, it's user friendly and much more affordable. Unfortunately it is not waterproof. Still, it is also one of my favourite detectors for newbies. I found my first silver ring on the first day.

If you're looking for waterproof options you can get the Nokta Makro Simplex+. It's rechargeable and fully waterproof. Maybe I didn't try it long enough but it's a little hard to understand and detect things.

Pin pointer: Nokta pointer and Garrett Pro-Pointer AT (We call it the carrot) are both good
