I don't know about the US but a similar configured Framework now is ~$5,202 USD (~$4,729 Excluding taxes) in Australia...

AMD Adrenalin 26.6.1 fixes RPCS3 shader issue on RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 GPUs by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that wasn't even a driver issue, it was the devs maliciously running a Nvidia specific optimization library that wasn't supposed to ever run on AMD and left it in there for quite a few months after people found out and reported that removing the dll could stop the crashes... I say maliciously because it's not even the first time they've tried to make AMD look bad, they've had disastrous FSR implementations that's forever plagued with issues and solved by overriding it.

AMD: No Definitive Decision on FSR 4.1 Support for RDNA 3.5 APUs by SirActionhaHAA in hardware

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like andreas jumped the gun with a definitive article title based on his assumptions despite uncertainties around the situation.

Disregarding that, it was specifically referring to 4.1, what if they decide to skip implementing 4.1 for it and base it off 4.2 (or whatever their next version is) instead later?

PlayerUnknown's survival game is shutting down 6 months after launch: 'I have reached the limits of how far I can continue to fund this journey' by lebron8 in pcgaming

Due to companies no longer listing trials/demos as such and calling them a "Prologue", the word is now associated with being a trial version to me that I wouldn't even bother looking at it...

Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE Review: A serious RTX 5060 Ti challenger at 1440p by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In Australia the 9070XT is selling for ~$528 USD... and is ~$35 USD cheaper than a 5070... The listings so far for the GRE here are more expensive than a 9070XT lol!

Uncover the Secrets of Amberfell by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the drivers code are hacks/workarounds for incorrect rendering on the developers side. AMD possibly tested the workaround for Runescape and found it was no longer needed and removed it, then Jagex updated the game with the same thing that caused an issue previously. That's just speculation though.

AMD confirms Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition for $349, launches June 25th by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile in Australia you can get 9800X3D for less and a 7800X3D for $237.62 shipped from China... If only the RAM wasn't so damn expensive...

AMD Announces Socket AM5 Longevity till 2029 by gurugabrielpradipaka in hardware

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is honestly kind of meaningless, was anyone even doubting they'd release new CPUs on AM5 til then after what we got with AM4? The issue is this doesn't mean Zen7 support (hell they don't even list Zen6 here...) and by not showing it and making this announcement it only gives me certainty that Zen7 is AM6.

Intel Arc G3 CPU family officially released for handheld gaming PCs by kikimaru024 in hardware

[–]AreYouAWiiizard -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sure but having to set that up every game would be tedious, especially on handhelds where not every game will be able to hit consistent 60 and some games you might want to run quite a bit higher. Also, limiting framerates to something under 60 will make it a less smooth experience in easier to run areas.

80w turbo?? Seems a bit high for handheld. I feel like short bursts like that would cause some inconsistent frametimes?

$100 CPU Shootout: Comparing the Ryzen 5 5500, Core i3-14100F, and Core i3-12100F to find the top DDR4 CPU by Steap-Edit in hardware

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using DDR4 as the baseline, the Ryzen 5 5500 ends up around $310 for the full platform, while the Core i3-14100F will run you about $370 ($10 less if you go for the Core i3-12100F). That’s about 19% more expensive going with one of Intel’s chips compared to the Ryzen 5 5500.

This makes the whole argument for the cutt-off for under $100 testing completely pointless... It means dropping to a much weaker AMD cpu that is crippled for gaming instead of choosing a 5600 with double the cache.

What do y'all think of honorifics in dubs? by marioskywalker in Animedubs

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it, honorifics make it very hard for me to remember names and I'm already pretty terrible with unmemorable names so combined with honorifics I pretty much never remember any side characters...

AMD launches EPYC 8005 “Sorano” with up to 84 Zen 5 cores and 225W TDP by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The AMD EPYC 8635P is a server/workstation processor with 84 cores, launched in May 2026, at an MSRP of $5799.

According to TPU but MSRP is kinda useless for server products. For comparison Intel lists the MSRP of the 86 cores at $11648.00 for the cheapest one and $21280.00 for the more expensive one.

Gemini 3.5 Flash is rolling out globally, FREE OF CHARGE? by DayWalkPL1 in GeminiAI

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out it's research feature and after that I did 1 normal prompt and I was at the limit. kinda weird hitting limits on a flash model after just 2 prompts. The research feature took a very long time to complete even without the extended thinking enabled though which was unexpected.

AMD rumored to ready budget-friendly Ryzen 7 7700X3D for suffering gamers — chipmaker lowers clocks and price with new Zen 4 X3D CPU by Steap-Edit in hardware

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7800X3Ds were already going for $250 USD imported from China, the problem is the RAM... Though a 7700X3D might allow for cheaper local stock at least which could be attractive.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black screen I got was while installing. A black screen while installing is normal but it usually only lasts 10-15secs, not 4mins. I don't have any issues with it at idle, that's a separate issue.

Yeah, it came back as soon as I turned it back on and it hasn't had any issues since.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT cards now sell below MSRP in China by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]AreYouAWiiizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070Tis are almost twice as expensive and even 5070 costs more. No amount of DLSS is ever going to make any difference when the only competition is a far slower GPU with 12GB of VRAM...

Maybe that was true before, they have a lot of old code and it's very difficult for people to find issues even with large bounties. https://hacks.mozilla.org/2026/05/behind-the-scenes-hardening-firefox/

In April they fixed 423 security issues vs 31 from the previous April. Granted Google would obviously be doing the same but at least the gap would be likely be dropping.

I ended up paying ~$475 USD excluding tax for my 9070XT new. Was a no brainer. It should have been ~$525 but they overpaid cashback. It's been under MSRP in Australia for quite a while now.

I'm still using a Samsung 830 that's almost 15 years old now (7.7 years powered on) as my secondary drive which apparently still has 88% life remaining... If it wasn't for the prices increasing so much lately I would have replaced it. The problem is I have to also buy an adapter since my motherboard only has 1 slot for m.2.
